Ok guys, how early would you give your little one potato? And would you mix it with formula? It would seem very dry otherwise...
Sue

think you can give it from 17 weeks if weaning then and yes mix it with formula or breast milk if its dry, you can add cows milk from 6 months

Hiya
I give Brody potato, but I don't freeze it.
If I do mash with a family dinner, I save a bit of the potato (before I add the butter etc)
Then when it's Brody's dinner time I'll add one of my defrosted ice-cubes of courgette or parsnip etc. If it's dry I add formula.

oops i've been freezing it and giving it to eva - mixed with baby rice and/or her milk. is that bad?? :?

No not at all.....it's silly really, my mom reckons frozen mash doesn't taste as nice ...plenty of my friends freeze it so don't worry.

My other reason for not freezing it is I generally will make mashed potato a few times in a week, eg for cottage pies and dinners etc, so I always have a little to set aside, and I have a really smaller freezer anyway.

i think you can pretty much freeze anything i just freeze it as it is though not adding anything then when its defrosted i can add the milk then

I give Ella potato, I just mix it with some formula and give it to her with other veggies such as sweet potato, parsnip and brocoli.

y'day I bough avacado, swede courgette and papaya to try her with.

I keep buying papayas and not using them... I throw them away, buy another one, then have to chuck it out week later. :?

lol, do they not last very long? Id best hurry up and do mine then! I got a reciepie sheet thing and it said babies love papaye so I thought Id try it.

She loves apple, tried her with carrot yesterday and didn't exactly love or hate it so I mixed it with apple and she seemed to take it fine. Going by the four day rule, next fruit is pear, which I have already stewed and in ice cube trays in my newly defrosted freezer (my God you should have seen it, it was solidly full of ice.) Next veg Broccoli, which I've done the same...*L* after that, we'll see. Are you all going by the four day rule, cos I'm getting impatient!*L*

She wont' take rice at all now, starts to protest loudly if given any. Have to mix it with apple.

Sue

i must admit i'm not going by the 4 day rule... AND i've started ruben on solids before 4 months too... (yes, some people might want to tell me off, but he was SO ready) he's had some solids for a week now, and he is 3 months 3 weeks this wednesday, so he started at 3 1/2 months. he is LOVING it, for breakfast he has about a teaspoon of baby rice with some mashed banana (about a tablespoon in total once i've added the formula), and then so far he has had carrot puree and swede puree for dinner (one ice cube each day) and from day 1 he has been impatient between spoonfuls and is not happy when it's all gone! he still has the same amount of boobie too, so i'm not reducing that - but he needed something extra!

next i'm going to introduce pear and apple, and i'm going to get some organic veg off the market this week to try him with.

i actually felt guilty the first time i gave him some solids, because of what the HVs have drilled into my head, but once i saw how he was loving it i'm proud that i followed ruben's lead and read the signals he was giving me. he opens his mouth WIDE open and doesn't even make a mess - looks like he doesn't want to waste any of the food! lol

matthews like that a little piggy once he starts! I have been making various things to freeze for him, so now he has brocolli, cauliflower, sweet potato, carrot, parsnip, pear, apple and cherry all made up ready to introduce, he likes the bananas he's had and is ok with carrot hes having pear tomorrow, i also need to cook the butternut squash and freeze it and peaches so of it smells so yum once cooked i love the fact that i also know exactly what he is getting nothing added no extra vitamins i dont understand why baby foods have extra vitamins surely if prepared properly they shouldnt need it!? i am also going to my mums this week and doing a load of food there for him in preperation for when i go back to work in a few weeks

Well done Rueben!

He's a good boy!

Heidi is still only drinking just about 6 ounces so i dont think she will be ready for solids at 4 months (I was looking forward to it as well!?!)
