Post pregnancy girdles???

Is it just a normal bandage or a certain fabric? xxx

You're always going to get conflicting advice/research. My mw was pro-binding last time, as was my GP. You obviously have to be sensible and listen to your body, no point constricting yourself in a painful manner.
Like labour and pregnancy, people have different experiences, I can only offer my own which was positive. The purpose is to aid muscle return, to avoid gaps, and help uterine contractions, not a magic weight loss option. My bump went down way before my muscles had returned to having no gap. x

I ordered a girdle off eBay last week, it arrived and the BF was laughing saying I'd need 2 to fit round me at the moment, shitbag x

Do some research. My OB told me they can cause blood clots & harm your uterus. And tbh I don't think they help really. My aunts all religiously do this and their bellies are out of control even though they aren't overweight. I haven't used anything, baby is 11 days old now & im just about back to normal. I didn't work out during my pregnancy either.

A personal physical circumstance comes down to luck more than anything though. What has 'snapped back' for some, certainly won't for others, and medical/surgical compression garments are perfectly legitimate practice, hence why so commonly used after surgical procedures. The concern over safety only comes if bound incorrectly, e.G. too tight, too soon etc.

I've opted for a surgical compression girdle just to keep stitches in place once the initial swelling reduces, and support 'down below' (it's like a giant pair of pants) for the first few weeks only, as I don't want the muscles to then 'rely' on the pressure garment and go the other way!! :)

Of course we are all different. Some people bounce back and for others it takes months. I think it depends on genes and how much you've gained really. I personally don't believe they do anything but that's just my opinion :)

And by out of control, I mean they have really big bellies compared to their body & weight after having babies.
