Hi Midna

It depends what I give James. If its root veggies he can go a day or so without pooing but then I will get 2 or 3 all in one day (mmm lovely!) and the first one tends to be quite solid followed by a fairly runny one. (Mmmmm lovely again!)
If I give him broccoli or green veggies it seems to come out same day.

Weaning deffo made his poop change though in terms of frequency. Especially at first. Id give her a month to 6 weeks to settle properly (it hasnt been that long already has it?!) although may take longer as you managed to BF her exclusively for so long ( )

I think the test is as long as she seems ok in herself she is fine. So by the sounds of it you have nothing to worry about anyway!

Ellies can go 3-4 days without going, i would say if shes not in any discomfort then it'll be fine. Your breastmilk should provide everything she needs as far as fluids i think?

Hi,
I had the opposite. When I started weaning her she started doing loads and loads a day instead of her usual one a day :) Sometimes I had to change her 5 or 6 times. But it is usually from puree not from the finger foods that make her go so often.

And drinking... not sure. She is ok with bottles and a cup so does drink quite a lot during the day. I guess a little and often and she will get through more than you think.

At the beginning I measured out 100ml and then through the day kept offering her water and I was surprised how much she actually got though. Maybe measure it one day and see how much she actually takes, just out of interest. Might put your mind at rest.

lil miss goes once maybe twice a day... we gave her banana o few weeks ago an it bunged her up for 2 days only lil miss is really uncomfortable if she doesn't poop everyday :(

If seed seems ok with her pooping... then don't worry your milk is sufficient... but with lil miss when she gets uncomfortable I give her a little bit of diluted fresh orange juice... which usually shifts things.... shes a bit of a gannet though and will have a taste of anything we eat or drink and enjoy it too

Is that why you changed your avatar? ;)

Sounds similar. It does change quite a lot depending on what they eat and when I think. See if the extra liquid helps. I think as time goes by and her system gets used to food, that she will regulate everything. Glad she isn't struggling though.

HI Midna,

Asher was the same when he started weaning. We had 2 or 3 weeks where he'd go 6 days without a poo!

We actually had quite a few problems with him. He found it very hard to pass and needed a lot of help and encouragement. Well, FINALLY after nearly 3 months of weaning, it seems to have settled down. He's pooing usually once a day now, sometimes every other day. They're solid but slightly soft, like an adult poo. When he was bunged up, they would be really hard at the end which is why he couldn't pass them very well.

He had blood on a couple of occasions. We took him to the GP who said he had an anal fissure. It healed very quickly and he hasn't had any more problems.

With regards to fluids, he has breatfeed mornign and evening and one bottle throughout the day. Then after every meal while he's still in his highchair I offer him some water from a sippy cup. He only has a few sips and often spits it back out again, but I think it helps. And one day, he'll start drinking it properly. I just think it's a good idea for him to learn that when he has his meals he also has a drink of water each time.

Weaning is a big shock to their systems. They've only been used to pooing liquid before that and I think it does take a while to get used to.

Kxx

It varies with Lola sometimes she'll go without for few days and then she'll go everyday at the same time for a few days

Lola will only drink from a glass or a sports bottle. I got her a packet of 3 small ones from £1 shop or I'll just refill a fruit shoot bottle as she seems to drink more from them :D
