no poo for 3 days now! - he was saving it up alright.....

as ruben's digestive system got used to my breastmilk he went from pooing several times a day to pooing only once every other day (he seems to be saving it up and give me the most horrid "up the front and back and out the sides" nappies, and they stink!!!). apparently this is normal.

but he's gone 3 days without pooing now! i am dreading the resulting nappy!!! does anyone elses babies do this? he is breastfed as well so i was kind of expecting him to "go" more often!

does he seem ok in himself? or does he seem uncomfortable?

iv always had the opposit problem with my daughter 4poohs a day yes them smelly leaking up the back in her ears type poohs

Apparantly you shouldn't be concerned as long as they poo at least once a week

Obviously if he is constipated or in pain it would be different but if he seems ok in himself I wouldn't worry for a few more days

Olivia went through a stage of only doing a couple of poohs a week and the HV said nothing to worry about as long as you're still getting wet nappies.

aw, thanx! i've had my hands full with ruben, but have more time on my hands now he's not screaming in pain with his reflux anymore! i can actually put him down to play, and we have a routine going too. it was just typical that just as his medicine started to work he got a stinking cold (caught it from me, i felt so guilty!) but he's fine now so thankfully i can have a bit of "me time" and not have to hold him, carry him, rock him.... every waking moment like i used to have to do!!

Aww hun sorry to hear wee Reuben has been suffering, so glad to hear that he's on the mend now.

Re the lack f dirty nappies, my MW told me to give Olivia cooled boiled water when she hadn't "been" for a few days (Olivia gagged on it though so not sure if it works)

Kiara had this prob after not going for seven days i took her into the hospital and they gave her a supository and she went instantly lol and lots.
Then didnt go for five more days so went back and yes another supository she had been in alot of pain which is why i kept going to the hospital.
then they put her on this natural sugar and it worked its called Lactulose syrup you should ask yoru doctor abotu it its the only thing that worked for her after trying prune juice , apple juice, me eating lots of fruit and vegetables which only made me go .
I am breastfeeding as well so i thught it was very wierd as well so suggest that Lactulose to your doc and im sure it will work it took a few days to work but went Monday , Friday and again today so it will get it more regular again. Kiara used to go after each feed so hopefully she will stay liek this now.
Hope it helps i know how frusterating it can be when your child is in pain and you cant do nohting about it.

it didn't seem to bother ruben which is good! it is rather funny though to watch him strain for a minute, he goes bright red, followed by an almighty blurrrrrp in his nappy - and then the look of relief on his little face.... priceless! it's like he literally goes "aaaaaaaah...."

i have a feeling this is gonna be his pooing pattern now!

lucy: ruben gags on cooled boiled water too, i wonder why... maybe they're just thinking "hey, this isn't milk, i'm not having it!"

Seren has a weird poo pattern, she won't go for about 5 days then it'll be one every other day for 4 days then back to no poo for five days. I think its great as it means I don't have to wash as many nappies
