Pnd Sufferers, How To Make Them Feel Better!

just let her know you are there for her but try not to smother her as it might annoy her and get her down more, not really to sure what else to advise just be a good friend to her.

Hi, ive suffered from this in the past, and in my opinion the best thing you can do is make her feel like a normal person, and not just a mother who is struggling with her feelings.

Does she have anyone who can take little one off her hands for a few hours so you can have a proper girlie chat or do something that she used to enjoy before getting pregnant?

Failing that just be there for her, as you obviously are a good friend to be caring about this, and thats more help to someone suffering with PND then you might realise

Hi Gaynor,

I was diagnosed with postnatal depression 4 weeks ago and was prescribed anti depressants. they take a few weeks to get in to your system, in the meantime if you dont think she will ring you, try ringing her and like marchmama and glizyglamgirl said dont smother her just treat her like you would any normal day. My sister in law and my family were great taking me out and keeping my mind occupied, the worst thing is being home alone feeling really down and tearful.

If she has started the tablets they will start helping her cope better with everyday life, i stayed with my mum and then my husband had a week off work to help so if you can convince her to stay with you for a bit that would definetly help her. Ive been taking tablets for 4 weeks and i feel so much better, so there is light at the end of the tunnel

Hope this helps

Amy

 What a lovely kind friend you are...I posted today about my feelings, I too am on anti depressants and its only now 8 weeks on that I have fallen in love with my daughter, and I am enjoying her..I found the first 6 weeks awful-I hated it and was terrified.

In this weeks Love It magazine is an article by Lucy Benjamen from Eastenders, called "I was scared of my daughter"-she talks about how she struggled with motherhood. It really helped me by reading it, it inspired me to finally admit my feekings, and by writing it down and sharing it with my friends on her today I feel relieved to get it out in the open. Get her to read it....

Has she access to PC? Introduce her to this forum, she will get so much support from the lovely gals on here..I dont know what I would do without them

Good luck, and bigs hugs to you both xxxx

Your obviously a very good friend to her, and thats all she needs right now

Just keep doing what your doing hun, knowing that she has a good friend who is there for her can make such a huge difference :D
