So I’m 13 weeks +2 and I am on holiday.
The weather has been amazing, probably around 26 each day.

I’m very careful in the sun - always have been. I’m fair so can burn easy.
I haven’t burnt at all and have been using a high factor whilst taking regular breaks from the sun.
Last night at 2am I suddenly started vomiting and then became extremely cold. There was no warning signs I just woke up feeling sick. I was shivering and vomited a few times then went back to sleep. In the morning about 9am I vomited again and suffered diarea.
I have been keeping my fluids up since waking today and have not had another bout of vomiting etc since this morning.

I’m worried about my baby now and will be making an appointment to see my midwife. I’m hoping it’s a stomach bug but I’m scared it may have been sun stroke - (although I am not burnt, I haven’t had a headache or been dehydrated, I was out the sun 10 hours before I fell sick and I felt no dizzyness or exhaustion)

But does this sound like a stomach bug? Possibly gastroenteritis? I should add that last night was the first and only night we ate and drank outside of our hotel. I’ve read that stomach bugs don’t harm the baby and my tummy does feel temperamental today

Thanks xxxx

Sounds like a stomach bug. The baby will be fine. The body protects the baby and it’s just you that feels awful. You’ve been able to drink water so just keep doing that. You would know if it was sun stroke. You’d have a raging headache and would be sunburnt. No harm in getting checked out when home but try not to worry. I had a horrendous stomach bug with my first pregnancy and the baby was fine. X

Stay and eat in the hotel. Sounds like a bug, baby will be ok. I had norovirus in jan and have never felt so ill, d&v for 12 hours. Babies were fine.
Keep up the fluids, try to take on some salts and sugars if you can tolerate it and take it easy x

Thank you so much for the replies.

I think I know it’s been a stomach bug but I’m a massive worrier and being in a hot country and really worried me it’s sun stroke.

I had a bad bug with my previous pregnancy and couldn't eat anything for 5 days! I kept on drinking water even though it kept coming back up as well, I was sure some of it would still be absorbed! I lost a few kilos but they came back quick enough! The baby will be fine hun!x

Thanks for your reply!!
I am home now, the vomiting stopped after 12ish hours but still got a mild case of diarea unfortunately.
Booked in to see my gp just to be safe and I’ve never experienced somebody so useless ..he couldn’t even do my blood pressure! (He blamed my arm being small, not the machine not working).

Feeling much better but ofc I’m a worrier and wish I knew my baby was ok.

Maybe it's time to look for another GP!
Don't worry too much hun, as long as you can keep those prenatal vitamins and folic acid down, you should be fine.x
