Please get your thyroid checked!

I had an abnormal result on my thyroid function test and when talking to the fertility clinic they said an under active thyroid can stop you from getting pregnant ! I know most of you ladies will know but I'll be honest it was news to me.
Now main reason for this post is if you get an abnormal result on your thyroid function test they will not retest for 6 months that's right 6 months even if your TTC. Thank God I had a blood test about a year ago where my thyroid wasn't right and it was only that my OH reminded me so I made my gp check my medical history of my last blood test other wise o would have had to have waited 6 months so please if your struggling and you have been trying for a year get that blood test done asap or if you think you have hyperrhyroidism get it checked asap and also found out it runs in families so if any of your close family have it go get checked. I've urged my twin sister and mum to get checked but specially my twin as she hasn't started ttc yet.

Good advice. I found out about this from the 2nd consultant I saw. My GPand the first consultant never did a test. My acupuncturist told me it was the first thing that should be checked.

We 're having another blood test in 2 months to check the levels and if need be dose will be adjusted and then bloods checked again. If I'm not pregnant in 6 months I have to go back to the fertility clinic

Yea I'm hoping it does to be fair I've woken up today feeling abit more like my old self and I've only been on it today will be the 4th dose and they say it can take 10 days for it to work properly

This is good to know, I have been referred to recurrent miscarriage clinic and have the forms for the first blood tests ready for next month and thyroid is one of the things they will be checking x

Luckily for me. When I went to the doctors after about 2 years TTC, my doctor send me for lots of blood tests and I found out I had under active thyroid aswell. I keep having regular blood tests but it’s now under control and at the right level for IVF. xx

Ah fingers crossed for us both.

We have just been told today that because my husband went through half an ivf process with his ex about 16 years ago we don’t get free funding on the NHS even though we don’t have any children
I am absolute guttered. It’s all a complete shock to us. Spent most of my morning I tears and just wondering what’s the next step.

That's awful he didn't even do a full cycle and your not her but you have to suffer I really hope you can sort things out I really do
