is charging £6.30 each for a cinema ticket more of a criminal offence than DVD piracy?

i think it is.

your views ...

i only go the cinema for a break away from kids and to spend some nice time with OH

i would never pay that price to watch a film, well why would you when you can get it copied from the sudday market

:rotfl:

im currently looking for shrek3 and HP. Although i went with Hubby last week to see hP id have to sell one of my kidneys to pay for the three girls to see it and ababysitter for baby budge

See I love watching a film at the cinema, don't think home viewing gets anywhere near it. I love my films and am sad enough to pay for gold class for the films I really want to watch, so I will be paying £15 to watch transformers. But I think thats worth it and I don't go out drinking anymore so I need pleasure somewhere.

yes i agree with you there . it is great going cinema to watch a film .however to take three kids and a hubby it costs so much and i think its a shame. :(

im lucky as my OH is mad into home cinema

he is romantic too, he even pops down the road to get my popcorn from the cinima we live 2mins away from one

pulls the sofa up close and its great, i even get to wear my pjs

Brian works as a cinema projectionist so we can go to the cinema for free any time we want plus get 40% off any food we buy. The funny thing is we never go and we always download the newest films ourselves. However we always give our free tickets to friends and family. i guess it will come in handy when i want to start taking Evie to the cinema :D .

how do you download films? can you download me shrek and HP?

ill be your bestest friend

we already have shrek 3 but not HP. I dont really know how to do it budge its the hubby that does it,. but i know he uses things called Torrents. so if you find someone who could tell you about them then its easy to download them from torrent sites such as isohunt.com and torrentspy.com :D

Havent been to the cinema in years,we used to get the dvds but i dont know anyone who does them now and i have no idea where to start
But would love to see shrek 3 so would the kids if anyone can help lol

Orange wednesdays are the best - buy one get one free - the only reason I go now!!

If it's a film I'm desperate to see then the cinema, but they're few and far between.

If it's not then I wait for it's DVD release to watch on 'legit' rental. The times between releases are so short now I don't mind waiting.

Pirate DVDs are usually crappy quality, sticking/jumping and very frustrating. I'm no knock-off Nigel

I agree the cinema prices are expensive but where else can you go out and be 'entertained' for a few hours on £6? Even bowling/drinking/eating costs more than that. And the inflated prices are probably influenced by the piracy market. There are usually concessions during the day and for children.

One thing I do disagree with are the refreshment prices. My OH got stung for £6 on pick and mix last week!

its cheaper to buy the proper dvd than 2 of us to see it at the cinema, so we wait till its on dvd now. :? over £12 for 2 people to see a film is rediculas!

My mum is always telling me how we should get out and go to the cinema, but like it would cost £15-£20 for the 2 of us, i think its a rip off, just imagine how mny do pay it, it dont cost that much to run does it.. i agree with ya budge

for the 5 of us all to go and see shrek it would cost us over £30!!!

If you want a decent pirate DVD you have to wait till you can download a DVD Rip, meaning the DVD has come out in the states or somewhere and someone has copied it. Anything is is more than likely going to be a camcorder-in-the-cinema copy.

Please don't ask people to download stuff though, or talk about how to do it, (unless you want to do it via pm) remember you are asking someone to break the law and anyone could be reading. ;)

Personally if its a big action movie or something like Harry Potter I will pay the price to go and see it at the cinema, cos it's worth it. :)

yeah i agree - i love going cinema. But my point is - its over priced and its unfair that people with a couple or more kids have to pay a huge price for two hours at the flicks.

budge can you take them before 12 on a week end? get the early bird tickets maybe?

yeah there are loads of possibilities for cheaper tickets. Tuedsday offer cheap tickets all day
theres orange wednesday and like you say the saturday cheapys. But going in the morning doesn't have the same feeling as going in the evening does it and i think if they can afford to offer half price tickets on certain days and still make a profit they can do it permanantly. :shakehead:
