Hey everyone. I've been experiencing a burning pins and needles sensation in my left outer thigh a lot recently. Does anyone know what it could be or anyone else have it. It happens a lot if I sit with my legs curled up but also just out of the blue with no warning.

Any ideas?

TIA xx

I had that in one of my pregnancies. It is caused by pressure on a nerve that passes through your pelvis. It can be painful but usually just strange feeling. I lost the feeling in part of my thigh. Returned to normal after the birth and I didn't get it in my last pregnancy.

I just looked it up. The medical name is Meralgia parenthetical. My guess is that what is causing your pins and needles

Thanks, didn't have it with my first so was panicking about blood clots. Yeah it's not painful as such, just not a nice sensation. Sometimes it lasts a few seconds and sometimes 10-20 minutes.
Just googled it and it does sound like that. I'm overweight to start with so that'll be it. Thanks again xx

I am overweight also so maybe that didn't help, also a very large bump and big baby.

Yes, I have it too. My midwife said baby is laying on a nerve or that the extra weight is putting pressure on it. Like you, mine comes on if I have my legs curled up or when I go to bed usually, but can come on anytime, sometimes for seconds or for prolonged periods of time. It feels weird, but my midwife said it’s nothing to worry about.
