I bought one yesterday!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Anybody got any tips on how to peel it and whats it meant to look like when its ripe?

When I've bought them in the past they have been mouldy :(

I would guess... chop it in half and scoop it out, like a melon?

Nice idea by the way fellow 3rd tri member! LOL. I can't be dealing with all that preparation, I get the ready made lunch tubs from Asda.. there's something about pineapple that makes it uncomfortable to eat too much, so they're just the right size for me :)

"To prepare a fresh pineapple, the easiest way is to twist the crown from the pineapple, slice it in half lengthwise and then again. Slice out the core, trim off the rind (as you would a cantaloupe), and cut the trimmed, peeled, quarters into chunks." I found on one site.

Try this one too...

I normally do too, they are on offer at the mo as well. But I bought this out of pure desperation lol. Apparently only a fresh pinapple works (if it works at all hehe)

When i cut pinapple i do exactly as shells instructions says (the first one, not the photos), its quite easy one yo get the hang of it.
Also toknow if a pinapple is ripe always smell the bottom of it (the other end from the green spiky bit) and if it smells really sweet then its perfect.

I know its unrelated but with watermelon you knock on the side of it and if it sounds hollow then its a good ripe watermelon.
:D

Wow, you are so resourseful Michelle :D

Why on earth didnt I think about looking on the internet? Pregnant brain strikes again :wall: LOL

I love posting pictures for some reason, I dont know why, I just think it makes posts look more cheerful :) plus I'm bored :)

I have a special pineapple tool from Lakeland Limited:

Easy Peasy!!

Oh and the last one I bought (from Tesco) had peeling/chopping instructions on the other side of the 'pineapple' lable anyway - it suggested cut off the top and bottom, half and then half the 2 bits again. Cut out the sour core then just slice and eat!

ETA: I tried pineapple the other day TD ate the whole thing and by the end of it my mouth was on fire (like the acid had burned it or something) and the following morning I had rather loose bowl movements  baby still hasn't budged so guessing it's an old wives tale...had to try it though.

might save the rest for after lunch then :)

I get the same with pineapple juice - if I drink too much my gums hurt real bad afterwards.. lol

It's easy, the top pineapple is what you do first, peel off a thin layer of the skin, so you can still see the little black holes. Then use the holes as a guide to use a knife to cut a channel, removing each hole as you go.

When I was in Thailand its how the fruit sellers did it, they can do one pineapple in about a minute!!
