Ok so this is probably stupid but, has anyone read or heard that pineappple is bad for pregnant women?

I was chatting to a friend and told her I always have pineapple juice for breakfast.

She looked horrified and panicked, but then said she might be wrong, but pineapple could be a bad thing?

it has totally put me off my daily breakfast beverage.
Reassurance needed please :)

I'm going to have a grapefruit now, unless anyone wants to tell me I can't have that too!!! lol

There's nothing wrong with pineapple. The myth is it brings on labour but you have to eat like 7 of them in one go!!
Go enjoy!! x x

Thanks for that, just had my daily pineapple juice now, after reading this.
7 pineapples!! Might be worth remembering when im near my due date lol!!!

Yep lm is right also the enzyme is only found in fresh pineapple. I drank lots of pineapple juice in the first tri :)

never heard of it :) The NHS book definitely doesn't say anything about pineapples being bad! xx

Lol I was thinking the dame thing but then thought 7 pineapples in one go will probably induce the runs and not labour or both!

I have taken to telling people to f*** off when they do it to me now lol I have ready my book thoroughly and I dont need their amazing 'medical' knowledge thanks very much lol

mm cake... what sort of cake?

oh and do you know that according to the latest research cakes are really bad for you because...

just kidding :)

I eat pineapple all the time and have all the way through my pregnancy I also heard it brings on labour but you must have to eat tonnes of the stuff so a glass of it or a nice snack wont do any harm, ppl really should keep there opinions to themselves unless they know for sure its a bad thing they make us pregnant women feel like we are been terrible mothers, well ill have my cake pineapple n whatever else and eat it thank you very much lol x

It was just a normal birthday cake, as I took a piece his face went all funny and he said you cant have that its got eggs in it......so I paused and then took the biggest bite of cake ever lol idiot....I feel sorry for his mrs she must have eaten nothing during her 2 pregnancies poor bugger :)

I have heard that fresh pineapples can induce labour near your due date , but only if you had a ton of them .

I've had cravings for pineapples lol :) ate 2 tins of pineapple is syrup just before I read this ha ha!!

But when it comes down to it... It's only recently people have gone all up in the air about pregnant women eating some foods... What did people used to do before all this? Eat what the hell they liked... Most books do say to "cut down" rather than "stop eating" a lot of the foods like tuna for instance... And cutting down is feine by me :D xx

Jesus I nearly had heart failure then as Ive been eating loads of fresh pineapple at work and drinking juice. Normally I hate the stuff. x

I drink pineapple and coconut juice all the time :) I;ve never heard pineapples are bad :) x

I too drink pineapple juice with my brekkie. Glad that's not another of the list. x
