thinking about the frontline topic and how there's not much convo going on in here..

who has a pet, what is it, pictures? and how do you think it will be with a LO?? :)

We have 5 snakes. They are all lovely just hope my little one won't be scared of them!

OH has 2 corn snakes called Rosie and Jasmine and 2 Russian Rat snakes called Smirnoff and Vernon and my DS has one Corn Snake called Eric.

My wee Charlie boy :) He's 10 months old and an absolute angel <3 I know he'll be great with our baby, he's the funniest, silliest, cuddliest cat in the world, I love him to bits :D

I am not really a big fan of cats but your is really cute.
I'd love a dog but OH thinks it's cruel to leave them all day while we are at work

We have a gorgeous dog - Jack, he's a 3 year old cocker spaniel and is so soppy!
He adores my niece and nephew (aged 3 and 1) and having been around them since they were born I think he'll be fine.
Once I figure out how to post a photo of him I will!!

:D :D

Snap! I'm not a kitty fan either but Charlie does look very cute. The deal with a dog was always "If one of us was at home all day then fine". Oh, guess what will be happening next year with a bit of luck.....??

Even I have to admit that getting a dog on top of (hopefully) having alien to look after could be a bit too much like very hard work. Darn it. It's not lilke I want a dog that needs walking all the time. The smaller, the sillier-looking the better!

We have a King Charles puppy (well i say she is still a puppy she is about 7 months old) She is black, brown and white. She is so lovely. Can't put any ictures of her up as i am at work but trust me she is so adorable!

We have a 6 year old cat and a 9 month old German Shepherd Dog :D

We also have more bantam hens, larger hens for egg laying, rear our own for eating a couple of times a year, have ducks and piggies running around at any given time also. Keeps me busy

We have 4 cats, 3 rabbits and various fish. The cats were here way before Erin - they've turned 11 this year - and the rabbits have just turned 5.

Erin loves the cats. We taught her from a very young age that if the cats are in their beds, or asleep, that she leaves them alone. This was to allow the cats to feel safe once she was mobile and hopefully to stop them lashing out at her for constantly chasing them.

It worked really well. She's never yet been scratched by one of them, even though she does chases them for cuddles, leans on them when they are laying down for more cuddles and strokes them a lot. One of them absolutely adores her and will flomp down next to her - I have a sweet photo that I'll see if I can find where Erin is on the potty and Eclipse is laying next to her while she fusses him. :)

The others are ok with her, in a take-it-or-leave-it way, but they've all got really good temperaments. :)

Our Tia! I am guessing she will be the jelous type seen as she has to be the centre of attention all the time!

We have a 10yr old Boston Terrier, who has been with us since she was six weeks old, a 5yr English Bull Terrier, (stupidest dog on the planet), a young male rabbit, who is an RSPCA rescue, and a little old man of a hamster.

I LOVE Polish!! ALways wanted some but I've heard they are dead hard to keep as they don't see well from under their crests? Do you find this?

I used to have Minorcas, Black and White Rosecombs and Barred Rocks. Just a goldfish now. Well 2 but one is hiding inthe bathroom cupboard :wall:

Well she is a bantam Polish so a lovely size. Not noisy, loves company of both chickens and people (and dogs when around) and a real personality. Loves to perch on shoulders and anywhere else for that matter. The first month we had her she was small and thought she was a house chicken and used to come in for refuge and sit on my feet or fall asleep between them when I was sat at the computer in the evening  Too cute.

Her crest needs regular mite powder treatment and I've had no problems so far. I used to trim her feathers round her eyes (wrapped her in a tea towel, she sat down and I went to work with the scissors very carefully) so she could see out, but stopped that a while back and now tie it all up in a top knot  She gets a new lease of life and runs everywhere then. And is very inquisitive. Wherever people are she likes to be right there. If they can't see out they do tend to run into things and so on. They are also quite nervous of noise and sudden movement, so are better kept in a run or large pen I find. Total free ranging isn't for them alas as they do tend to zoom off and get lost when scared. I once found her one field away trying to get through the fence going the other way when I'd let them out to free range for an hour and a helicopter had scared her off

Honestly, if you have room for a couple and have a run you can keep covered in wet weather then go for it. They make wonderful pets and are apparently not broody in the least which helps. They don't do well in draughts or damp conditions hence needing a covered run (we put a big sheet of thin wood over her run in winter) and if it rains in summer or her creat gets wet its out with the hairdryer on her, which she loves  Leaving it damp means they run the risk of getting ill. They are not a hardy breed like some, quite delicate infact. They also need company of other hens, preferably another Poland or small breed so they don't get pecked or chased.

I'd not be without Stella and have been looking for another Poland to go with her but as yet no luck. Hopefully next spring she'll have a fellow Poland to keep her company. For now she is very happy with the Pekins :)

Erm yeah I love my chooks :cheer: *shuts up now*

And hiding in the bathroom cupboard?

That doesn't sound so bad...quite cute in fact :D I think I'll see about getting a trio in the spring :D Nothing like fresh eggs!

The goldfish is in the cupboard because

The one we have is Jonah's most beloved thing and I found it floating upside down in it's bowl while he was playing at his grandads. I phoned my Dad (a fisheries consultant  ) who reliably informed me it was swim bladder and a fish that size wouldn't really recover.

So I went on a mad mission to get a replacement so Jonah wouldn't be upset. Thinking I would replace it before he noticed......
( I get really travel sick atm and had to stop on the way to be sick on the roadside )

...when I got home the damn thing was alive and kicking and has never looked fitter :wall: :wall:

Soooo, the other one is now in the bathroom cupboard, hiding until I find it another home. There is not room in the bowl with the other one...and it can't really spend the rest of it's life in a trifle dish. :rotfl:

And dad denies all liability.

You did ask :rotfl:
