do you all insure your pets? I've been reading on the internet and quite a few people have said its better not to insure them and keep some money aside just incase there's any hefty vet bills. They don't pay out for minor things anyway do they?

i have insurance for all the animals, I have plus cover so it pays out for all accidents and illness because you just dont know whats going to happen.

Cats are commonly injured in RTAS so they all have insurance and my dog, soon to be dogs have it as well.

Every pet owner should have insurance as vet bills lumped on you can be massive.

I don't have insurance but then I have guinea pigs  There are companies that insure small animals but the premiums are ridiculous so I just put money aside. If I had a dog or a cat I wouldn't hesitate because if there was an accident bills can run into thousands.

I have just picked up my dog from vets who was rushed in for an emergency historectomy on sunday evening. she only showed signs for bing ill for 2 days then got very ill very quick.

All i can say is im sooo glad i have insurance bill this morning was £2070

which they are doing a direct claim with insurance my vets but thy do pay out for little things to, but you normally have excess mine is £70 which is nothing compared to what i could have been looking at today

Im with M & S and def reccommend them

Bloody hell, good thing then you had insurance!!!

I would definately advise pet insurance, dunno if you've read my posts but my cat was in a RTA about a month ago and sadly put to sleep on Tuesday... we didnt have pet insurance and we've paid around £600 out in vets bills in the past few weeks, if we'd have had pet insurance it would have saved us alot of money but also would have ensured that i was one less thing we had to worry about as you have enough on your plate worrying about your pet.

We're looking into insuring our other cat at moment, definately will always have it in future. :)

Hunny look at m & S insurance they brillaint, they will cover you for ongoing conditions after the first year to which many dont offer.

I've not got a pet now but i think i would consider it if i did have.

My OH's aunt's cat got diabetes and her treatment was costing something like £50 a week because she had to have insulin injections and special food! They didn't have pet insurance.

They paid out so much for little Cheech!

Yes, always had pet insurance for Barney. Deffo recommend it too! Putting money aside is all fine and well but vet's fee's can add up to thousands of pounds!

You actually reminded me to go and get it.

Gizmo was ill last year with a gastro bug and had to stay in with drip etc and that cost £300, another time this year he had to stay in 2 nights and that cost us couple of hundred. Had he needed an operation though it could of run into thousands and unfortunatey we would have had to put him down. I remember crying and saying to OH what if we can't afford to get him fixed

Anyway thanks for reminding me, I have just taken it out with Halifax, it was £10.90 each month. It covers quite a lot too and like the M&S one it pays out year on year. It has loads of other things too and helplines for advice. and only £60 excess. :)
