Hello...

Just wanted to know if anyone else is trying to conceive with really short periods. I came on, on Wednesday afternoon. After being 2 days late. But it's pretty much stopped as of yesterday evening when I removed a pretty much dry tampon (sorry). Is this an issue when ttcing? Is there something I can take to try and make them longer and heavier xx

Since the age of 14, I have had 3 day long extremely light periods. Day 1 and 3 more like spotting and the middle day bleeding but only ever need to put a normal pad on in the morning and change it mid afternoon and before bed.

I conceived at 26 and last month at 38. Lost both but reasons for both not related to my uterine health. That is tip top so please try not to worry. We are all very very different as you will quickly learn reading the threads on here.

Good luck on your ttc journey xx

I spoke to a fertility doctor last year as I was having 2 day periods and he said that's fine. The sign of a healthy period is that they start and stop pretty abruptly apparently. As long as the flow is continuous and red and you don't bleed at other times you are probably fine. Is it heavy or light? It might be worth speaking to a doctor if you are concerned or have trouble conceiving. Maybe they can check your hormones. There is a condition, which I had for a while, where your uterus doesn't fully empty each month - it's caused by hormonal imbalance. They can do an ultrasound to check the thickness of your uterine wall. They treat it with progesterone to make you bleed - although I lost 9 stone and it cleared up on it's own. If not much blood is coming out or you are dripping at other times then def see a GP and ask for a referral to gynaecology. It's not something you wanna leave.

One of the most important factors in hormonal balance is weight - make sure you are not under or overweight. Personally I think having enough iron is a good idea (I take Spatone as it's suitable for pregnancy and has zero side effects). It can help to cut additional estrogen from your diet - I gave up soy and eggs for a while.

I think any cycle under 21 days can be a problem and any luteal phase shorter than 10 days is also a problem.
