I've been having really bad period pains the last few days....not all the time, just on and off, but I have all that backache that you get with it as well...The tops of my thighs hurt and my bum too... I can't call my midwife because we don't have them on call like you do in the UK, it has to be week days 8:30am till 8pm... so the only option is to go to the hospital and wait, SILLY amount of hours to see one doctor, only to be told he can't help me because he's not a gyno, then go to the emergency gyno people, who will only give me a scan and tell me the baby is fine (I can feel him kicking away merrily to himself atm), only to be sent home after wasting their time, and feeling like a complete idiot....

Anyways... does anyone else still have period pains?.... I've had stretching but that's a different type of pain... This is definately the same period throbbing...

yeah i get them sometimes,,, its weird, and can be worrying but your feeling baby move so everthing seems fine

if your really worried, then it might be worth waiting them hours to get a scan

I had a pain like a period pain earlier but it went after a little while it was different to other pains ive been getting but it went so i havent thought anymore about it?
Hope you it goes soon!

I chick- where we live the private Clinica Rincon is fab for things like that. I've had to go a couple of times before and saw a gyno on a Sat night- it cost about 50Euro though. Have you got that option there- it may put your mind at rest

We kinda have things like that, but as far as I am aware they aren't open on a Saturday.... I've used the private clinics before for when I have been bleeding, as you can get really quick appointments...

give them a bell- to check if they're open- the one I've been to is about 30mins away in holiday resort that may be why they're open at weekend

Yes and I also seem to get spots around the time I'd be coming on too!

I'd get it checked if I were you. The only times I've had period pains during pregnancy, were in the first 7 weeks or so and then this last week now that I'm due. Contractions are supposed to feel samey to period pains (although getting a lot worse) so just to be on the safe side.

K.x

Oh squig I hope those pains ease up soon!

I was sitting here wondering how you ladies can tell one pain from the other lol.. between all the symptoms I've had on and off continuously.. i.e. ligament stretching pains, stomach cramps, bowel cramps, spd, water infections, back aches and general pregnancy twinges I haven't a clue any longer which bloody problem is causing which pain!! LOL

Me too Carla. I constantly worry what's what. I'm worrying now. I feel like crap. Been to the walk in centre today and they say I don't have a UTI but I do have a trace of keytones so need to eat more but my stomach doesn't feel good - I think it is my stomach though and not baby related but going to the loo recently hasn't been a bundle of fun either so could be that :(

hope you're ok.

Had a few period type twinges at start of pregnancy but nothing for ages now, i have also heard that labour can start that way so i'd get checked out just to be on the safe side

What are keytones debs? Sorry if im being an ignoramus!
TBH, I dont even trust the docs opinions all that much anymore since Doc A said on Monday that I had an acute UTI and on friday Doc B said that I don't have any! Jeez!

As for the labour thing midwife told me not to worry at all unless the pains are relatively similar to coming and going contractions which do increase in pain and severity on each one, accompanied by a hard tummy tightening. Its far more likely to be one of the other preggy symptoms.

keytones are something to do with you losing weight, i only know this cause when my mum was on the atkins diet she had these little dip sticks to test if she was in the keytone stage which meant her body was burning the extra fat off, also gave her bad breath :rotfl:

They're not always to do with losing weight. You are likely to have a trace of ketones in your urine when you awake first thing as you'll generally not have eaten for around 12 hours. When you're pg you should eat every 2-3 hours.
