Period pains?

Hi everyone!

Gave birth 3 weeks ago on Fri and yesterday I got what feels like light period pains all day. Today they are worse and quite uncomfortable. Is this possible? I am bfing Ben very regularly.......

The breastfeeding may be causing your uterus to contract causing period pains, I got the for the first 5 weeks x

Yes breastfeeding gave me really bad period pains but this was only in the first week and it was my uterus going back down. Saying that though the midwives were shocked it went down so quick so maybe yours is the normal amount of time! For me I only got them while actually feeding though - not inbetween?

Other option is it could be your periods. I exclusively bf but dot on when my LO was 6 weeks I got a period and had cramps days leading up to it. I was a bit worried because I read you shouldn't really get periods while breastfeeding but its funny because its only true if you feed every so often as it produces certain hormones. My LO will go 6 hours at night so I'm guessing that's why my periods returned. Doctor said everyone's different and it's not a good nor a bad thing. Have a look at this it made me feel better! Xx
