Hey ladies,

Quick random question.
Ruth was born 13th of February by c section. I bled for 4 weeks which roughly stopped last weekend. Last week I had very very thick discharge which was stringy and white. It was in the bath, when I wiped (I initially thought it was blood clots with no blood). But then Friday I had severe back pain and some period cramps and started bleeding again Saturday. Medium flow with lots of small clots.

My questions are: is this now my period? (Ruth is 5 weeks old today)
Was the stringy stuff discharge or something else?
Did I ovulate last week and that was the discharge I saw?
Or is this still bleeding from c section?

Thanks ladies xx

Hi, i imagine it could be a bit of both. Your body is still recovering from what is major abdominal surgery and it took around 10 weeks for me to recognise a proper period. Let your body play catch up because it might be that around the time you'd be due to have your period you have some of the symptoms but not all.

If you're still worrying give your health visitor a call or your midwife and get some reassurance. If you're breastfeeding too then the contractions from your uterus can expel some more blood as it's shrinking back to normal x
