Good news hun!
I had this appear ten days post partum and it was utter HELL. What appalled me the most was that no midwives in my area had heard of it despite it being the most common pregnancy related rash going...... They aren't advised on it during training can you believe?!
Glad you have found something that worked.mfor anyone else reading this who is suffering other things to try are:
Topical treatments:
Grandpas pine tar soap 4 times a day lathered up and left on for a short while then rinsed off
Menthol aqueous cream to soothe the itch
Aveeno oatmeal bath soaks
Some people have success with aloe gel, salcura spray , histamine creams
Internal:
Dandelion root capsules seem to be a commonly successful solution
Anthistamines to help soothe itch and also help sleep which is hard to get with PEP! (Did nothing for me however)
Drinking v8 vegetable juice and lots of fresh lemon squeezed water
Worst casees can be treated with a course of steriods called Prednisone but this seems rarely prescribed in the UK
There is lots of info online, especially a site by a lady calle naomi kritzer or something (will dig out a link!)
In the States PEP is actually taken seriously, and can result in induction as life is just utterly unbearable if you have a bad case, but this is worst case scenario of course! It took about 8 weeks to ease for me and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy! Hope it disappears totally soon xxxxxxx
