Went out for lunch with my mum and dad today and they both were surprised how healthy Albert is. My dad even said he thought I would be a complete pain in the arse ringing them every day for advise . I have rung for advice about 3 times since he's been born but considering my mum was a paediatric matron in the 60s she's a decent source of info and tips so I'll take advantage. With both her kids my sister was at their house every day from 8am til 5.30 when her husband got home and they think I'm a pain in the arse!

I'm 34 years old, I raised my godson til he was 2. It's been bothering me all afternoon, I might be a first time mum but I'm a bit disappointed that they thought I would fail tbh. I don't think I've done too bad so far! Although it could all change when he becomes a teenager and I send him to boarding school lol

Sorry for the rant but it's aggravated me! xxxxxxxx

Wrong part of the forum :wall: can it be moved please?

I was confused!!!

Maybe they didn't mean it the way it came out. Maybe it's their way of saying they are proud how well you've done. ESP with his feeding issues??

I'd choose to take it as a compliment :D but I agree with you, I'd be peeved as well xxx

oh hun people say stupid things like that thinking there giving a compliment

iv had LOADS of people say " im so surprised you such a calm /good mother" even OH's nanny said it to me !!!!! really hurtfull but dont think it is always said in a horrible way and im sure in ur parents case it wasnt either xxx

I have this with my in-laws. I think they mean it as a compliment but its the way it comes out seems offensive. I used to get really upset about it as im a nurse and i know what im doing! I now let it go in one ear and out the other, its my baby and i know i am doing my best for abi. As we all are xx

my mum said she was really excited about the baby til i got home from hospital and she realised i didnt really need help lol

I guess if you think about it, the older generations asked parents etc for advice, where as we have a wealth of info on here. I guess most of us would probably have asked others more questions if we didn't have access to the forum.

Xxx
