Hi girls. Today been really bad for pain when walking. Difficult to explain exactly its like someone kicked me really hard up the ass! Its like its my pubic bone and area... Made me walk like I did last time pregnancy in tri 3. I could hardly walk. Surely too early for this? Im 15 weeks. Anyone else got this?

Hey, didn't want to read and run... I would advise you rest, which is what my MW told me to do when I have felt some pain; I would rest and keep a check on things, contact you GP or MW if things change, best of luck x

hi tracey,

I've been experiencing this for the past 3 weeks along with my hips/pelvis cracking despite going to doctors and midwives they told me that its normal (no other explanation or advise) so ive taken rest and paracetamol which has helped a little.

Could be the early signs of mild SPD. SPD pain is mainly concentrated in the centre of your pelvis and between your legs - mine is awful right now, I keep seizing up!! Or it could just be this part stretching as a normal part of pregnancy. But worth keeping an eye on - and if it gets too painful then see your doc or midwife xxx

Thanks girls. Its definitely the bone right in between my legs, front to back.... Will keep eye on it and ask doc or physio if gets worse. Is there treatment or something I can do?

Yea this sounds like spd..i've had it with both pregnancies and i had it at 13 weeks with my 2nd..only thing that can be done is physio and wearing a belly support brace..at about 28 weeks mine was so bad i ended up with crutches..i would def get your midwife to refer you to the physio department though HTH x

Hey I suffer with SPD and it sounds like that is what you have I got a support belt and my midwife has reffered me for physio today there isnt a lot that can be done aboutit though and it does get worse....sorry....things like keeping your knees together when getting out of bed and and sitting on a gym ball rather than the sofa at home are supposed to help, id be lost without my gym ball as it seams the only place I can sit comfy! hopefully my physio appointment will come through soon ask your midwife to refere you hun best to start going now b4 it gets any worse, hope your ok x

Yeah I have put up with it since tri 2 but now I am 33 weeks it is getting really bad so I have been referred for physio. Have had to take painkillers for it today as am in real pain! It does seem to get worse the bigger you get so keep an eye on it xx

I have already too Tracey, it's called symphasis pubis dysfunction and it can be really painful, I had it really badly with number 3, but not quite as bad with number 4. Just try to take it easy and don't do anything to aggravate it, like moving things with your feet for instance! Try sitting down to get dressed and put shoes on, avoid ever standing on one leg..it's basically the ligaments in your pelvis becoming too soft too quickly, at least that's how I understand it.

Ive already been attending physio from 6 weeks.....been doing pelvic floor and ball exercises cos I was worried it would happen after last time. I thought if I started physio early it would be avoided but no..... I was not diagnosed SPD last time but did get support belt which was useless. Forgot what pain was like maybe it is different this time.... Ill ask my physio next week for advice, I already seem to be doing the right things. Never knew it had a name lol. Thanks girls!!

I've heard that many GP's have failed to diagnose it in the past.....guess they put everything down to normal stretching pains! If I hadn't heard of SPD I guess I'd just think it is a normal part of pregnancy - but boy is it painful!! I am actually wondering if physio can help at all or if it's just something that you just have to suffer with? When I was in hospital there were 2 girls who were inpatients due to really bad SPD - they both needed crutches to get around. They didn't receive any physio as treatment, just given regular painkillers and induced a few weeks early xx

Hey, I'm 17 weeks along and the last couple of days I've been suffering really badly with pains. Feels like someone's got a steel toe-capped boot and kicked my between the legs... It's crippling!! I don't know what's causing it but drinking a glass of water then laying down seems to make it easier to cope with. I'm seeing my midwife later on today and although friends have told me it's normal I'm going to double check... Probably worth you doing the same. :)

Got my appointment with physio on Tuesday at 10am followed by midwife at 10.45am so should get an answer... Thanks again!
