Hi, I read somewhere that you shouldn't eat peanuts whilst you are pregnant because it makes your child allergic. This sounds mad to me! is it true? does that mean I have to avoid wheat/eggs/dairy etc as well??

My midwife said that unless you or your partner suffer from allergies, you should be quite safe to eat them in moderation.

If you suffer from allergy, avoid them.

Yeah, I got told the same, if you or OH family have history of peanut allergy........we don't & I've eaten them!

I craved them through both pregnancies and they are both fine as
nobody in our families have allergies

But saying that i suppose they have to start somewhere

I have eaten a fair bit of of peanut butter in this pregnancy.

I was told only to avoid peanuts if you have a family history of allergies, just what the others have said really.

HI

I ate tons of peanuts with Kiara and shes fine :)

I have mild asthma and eczema so I have avoided them just in case. It's killing me though as I love them! I guess it's a personal choice.

my midwife today told me to avoid them ...I said i'd heard it was people who had peanut allergies in the family but she said eating them increses the risks of developing the allergy I have been eatting nuts but don't care enough about them to risk it
