Hi,

Just thought I would let you all know (following on from my other posts) that the reason I am late is because I have PCOS.

Feeling a bit down but I suppose its not the end of the world :(

Any other sufferers any advice...

 I have PCOS, I think. My scan showed my ovaries were fine but my bloods showed I have it. I hadn't ovulated or had AF since coming off the pill last May so I had all the tests etc done, I came on for the first time at the end of January (whilst on holiday, but it was only very light) and that's when I started on my first cycle of clomid. My first cycle I ovulated on CD14, 2nd cycle was CD17 and this cycle I Oved last Saturday on CD16. I've been doing temperature charting to determine when I do Ov cos the blood tests I have to have every CD21 only says yes or no to Ov. Do you know what your next step is gonna be? To be warned, before they put you on clomid your OH has to go for Semen analysis.
Good luck

Every month you get lots of little cysts in your ovaries where the eggs are maturing, usually when you get the increase of progesterone one (or sometimes more) of these cysts matures and realeases the egg. In Polycystic Ovary sufferers these cysts don't mature and no eggs are released and instead there are lots of immature cysts.

I have PSOS and just had my second child so don't feel too downhearted. May need some treatment but it isn't always bad news. :)

I was diagnosed with PCOS in June last year. Came off the pill straight away, conceived in July, my gorgeous son was born a few weeks ago!! I know I got very lucky and am still anticipating problems next time we TTC, but there is certainly still hope!

Good luck

Thanks for the info Fingers Crossed, I kinda removed my post instead of editing it  duhh! :)

I have PCOS and was diagnosed by blood tests and scans a couple of years ago. I came off the pill and only had 6 bleeds in 2 years. Since then I have managed to lose weight and the doctor put me on Metformin, and my cycles are much more regular now, at least every 36 days - sometimes longer. I stopped taking metformin after the first 6 mths because I couldnt cope with the upset stomach.
Being on the pill for years masked the problem.

I was diagnosed with PCO June 2006, after a year of TTC and AF becoming increasingly less frequent. Blood tests and ultrasound diagnosed the PCO and we started seeing an OB consultant last July. Hubby had his 'analysis' done (!) which was fine, so we started on clomid 50mg a day for 4 months - no joy :( I had a laparoscopy and dye test last Nov to check everything was clear and ok internally - luckily all was in order. So then we had 2 more months on 100mg clomid per day. My consultant said i could only be on it for 6 cycles, so we had our fingers crossed! I stopped doing pregnancy tests as I was so disheartened every time it was negative, so when AF was late in March, I didn't pay much attention to it. In fact, I even made a follow-up appt with our consultant to discuss the next step. When I got to day 42 I decided to finally do a test as I was not feeling right - and couldn't believe it was positive. I was shocked!

I guess what I just wanted to say - in a very roundabout way! - was that I was honestly starting to feel like it would just never happen, and finally it did. All those months of hard work finally paid off! I try to remind myself of the past 2 years when I complain to hubby about the all day nausea I am now having!!

best of luck, and it WILL happen for you
