Hi All,

I was just wondering what courses you are all doing. So far i have done a physiotherapy course for early pregnancy (I was the only one with a bump as i wasnt quite as "early" as i should have been) The course wasnt of much help and the only thing i learnt from it was to do my pelvic floors and to tilt back and forth now and then.

Ive booked my hospital visit, my two two hour parenting courses, my one breastfeeding course and my "how to cope with labour" course. I was hoping there were a few more how to cope with labour courses. I would love to do a hypnobirthing course but id have to pay for that and its over £200!

Anyone got any different courses which are available on the NHS?

I'm too shy and anxious to do courses so i have to miss out... so it's your job to give us all feedback and teach us all by distance learning

I hope to get a little look round the labour wards/delivery suite if I'm brave enough though. Hoping I'll be given a single room near the loo due to my panic attacks!

Only courses I ever get on the NHS is one of anti-biotics :rotfl:

I didnt realise there was anything like this i will speak to my midwife.

Chocoholic - as far as i understand nearly all rooms have a toilet with them. At my hospital theres 2 rooms next to each other who share a toilet but thats it you shouldnt have to leave your room it should just be through the next door connected to your room.
(spent time in labour ward over last few days with kidney infection)

there will always be the odd unlucky person that didnt get this but 99 out of 100 wil have had own room.

I wouldnt have even thought about doing any courses :?

I'd love to do the breastfeeding course as I didn't breastfeed last time so I'm a bit worried about it lol.

Keelie - As far as I know my mat unit still has wards and only one or two single rooms so I'm cacking it already lol (I'm gonna put why in a new thread so I don't hijack this one).

I'll have to do more internet research instead of courses, but if any of you have feedback from courses etc you've done I'll be really grateful to read it.

me neither until my best friend who's pregnant, and quite a bit ahead of me, went to one. she said it was useless, like a science lesson and didn't teach her anything she didn't know already.

I didn't do any antenatal classes last time because I moved from Leeds to Bedford at 26 weeks and all the classes in Bedford were fully booked by then. I don't really think I missed out as far as the advice goes, but I do feel a bit jealous when I hear about how people make good friends with their antenatal classmates. I didn't even think about it this time round, I don't think the midwife even mentioned them!

Im really surprised that noone has been encouraged to do the courses. My midwife asked if id booked them and my obstertrician asked if id booked them. I think its great (and free) Im really hoping to meet people in my area aswell as dont know anyone over here.

Will happily give feedback to everyone but would definately recommend you all get them booked. Nothing to lose!
