Im suffering a severe pain in my shoulder tip. No bleeding at all, no abdominal cramps. Have been to see the GP this afternoon she said that normally with an ectopic there would be ither symptoms however because the pain in my shoulder is so severe and not due to an injury i need to be scanned to rule out ectopic for sure. Ive had a call from the hospital who said its not being treated as urgent as such because there are no other symptoms and they believe that it is unlikely to be ectopic so they have booked me in for an early scan on thursday just to rule out ectopic and hopefully find baby in the right place. By my calculations i will be 6 weeks and 2 or 3 days then, have people had any luck seeing baby doing well in the right place that this point? Im in so much pain with my shoulder and now obviously a bit worried that something will be wrong at the scan! Thank you for reading xx

Hi Enya I have had early scans with previous pregnancies and they wouldn’t see me until Atleast 6 weeks so think you’re in with a good chance of seeing things progressing well on a thurs. Heartbeats can come a bit later though so don’t panic if you don’t see it. Good luck xxxxxx

As someone who’s had an ectopic pregnancy the shoulder pain was the last symptom I had after it had ruptured and I was bleeding internally. It is caused by the blood inside irritating the diagphram. At this stage you would be having other symptoms like agonising abdominal pain and your blood pressure would be dropping and you would feel very very unwell.

I hope you can get some reassurance from your scan about your pregnancy x

I'm havin a scan today I'm 6+2. With my daughter had one at 6 week exactly there was no heartbeat but there was scan yolk and a tiny dot which was the baby! X

Hi Enya, could it be trapped wind? I know it sounds crazy, but I had a laparoscopy and was told I would get shoulder pain from trapped wind. I didn't believe them as couldn't understand how my shoulder could hurt from trapped wind, but sure enough my shoulder was the worst pain after the operation!!

Try drinking some peppermint tea and have a shoulder massage, if it is trapped wind it will really help! x

Qwerty thank u, its reassuring just to know the likelihood is that i will c something healthy TORino i did say to my GP that i have no other symptoms and she said that although it's unlikely to be ectopic because i have no other symptoms that the shoulder pain can be referred pain and the only symptom, im sure once ive had the scan and seen everything in the right place and healthy I'll be reassured PeanutButter thank you, i was trying not to get my hopes up of seeing anything at all! But its lovely to know i should at least get a glimpse of my little blueberry! JemRose it doesn't feel like trapped wind, i had the same after my laparoscopy for appenix removal! I remember not being able to stand up straight as it was so painful! This feels different. Its right at the top of my arm like in the joint that hurts. At the moment it ms bearable if I don't move my arm. Soon as i move my arm it really hurts more so with certain movements! My gut feeling is that it's nothing directly linked to the pregnancy, but god knows what it is! All i know is it hurts and is making life with a 5,4 and 1 year old during early pregnancy very difficult! My poor baby is teething and needy and I can't pick him up without being in pain Xx
