I have several back problems but have so far managed to keep sciatica & other pains at bay by swimming & yoga. However, right next to my coccyx (base of spine at bum), it is quite tender. Anything I would normally use for anti-inflammatory I can't now and the only things I am still okay to use - my ice pack or hot water bottle aren't working. It is really sore and feels very bruised and makes sitting very difficult - and I have a desk job. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Oh i should say that it isn't my sciatica or sacro-iliyac joint, it is almost the flesh over the coccyx, just slightly to one side.

Thanks in advance.

have you tried one of those wheat bag things that you heat up in the microwave? whenever i hav back pain i use this they are fab!!!!!!!!

was just about to suggest one of those! I'm actually sitting with one across the top of my right leg at the moment. you can pick them up for around £5 - best fiver I've ever spent!

Tell you HR/personnel dept at work that you need a desktop assessment. We used to have them at our work and if you were preggo or had back problems they would order you a special chair that you kind of bend your legs over with no back, I can't explain it but a few people at my old work used them. :) Sometimes just adjusting the height of your monitor can help your neck and back. Its all about the level of your eyes with the screen.

Might be worth a try?

thanks - I will try a wheat thingy and we have a micrwave at work. I am due to have a risk assessment soon so will bring up problems with chair then. I was thinking about taking in a gym ball.

Poor you love
Id think taking in a gym ball is a good idea
you have made me think about doing the same
it will also strenghten those muscles for labour
im thinking of taking mine into work thanks for the idea :D

Hope work can sort out a solution and the pain subsides soon
