Hi everyone,
I thought I'd start the over 40s thread again as it was so popular and I really enjoyed it.

How are you all doing?

I found this article the other day and found it encouraging. It talks about the scaremongering about fertility in the over 35s and 40s, and the fact that there are more women in their 40s having abortions than teenagers because they've all been told they are not fertile. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/women/wo...Why-fertility-is-far-from-finished-at-40.html

I've also been reading about how older women start to ovulate more than once a month in some cases.

I have just started AF in my 17th cycle which is disappointing. But it was the first cycle where I had a healthy BMI and we only dtd once, so still have hope. Also only doing one more month of dieting, just in case that is affecting fertility.

Would love to hear from anyone from the original thread or anyone new in their late 30s and 40s.

I remember your previous thread. :) Have you ever had positive pregnancy test?

Hey there

Just thought I'd pop in and say hi :) I currently reside in the LTTTC forum. I've just turned 39 and am doing IVF with donor sperm as I'm a single lady. Not sure how much more I can afford though.

Good luck to you all xxx

I'm not ttc any more but popped my head in as I've just had my second baby at 39, my first was ivf and my second was a natural bfp from dtd once! Good luck ladies xx

A close friend of mine is considering ivf at Invi*ta or Pra*eu, probably with de. She is 38 and has been ttc-ing for 4 years. Unfortunately she has experienced cp and 3 mcs.

I was on that thread, I've unfortunately given up ttc now, I'm 44yrs old, been told I have pcos and high prolactin, consultant and Dr won't help me unless I pay 10 grand for donor egg ivf which we cannot afford, so its end of the road. Such a shame as I caught pregnant last September but ended early chemical. Apparently it was a miracle I even caught. xx

I'm still here although I mostly just use fertility friends now. I'm 45, 2 natural pregnancies in the last 10 months ending in miscarriage and chemical. Had an unmedicated iui in April which also resulted in a chemical. We're now trying Serum in Athens and hoping to do another round of ivf with them around Sept. Going there in two weeks for consult and tests.

Hi Tinselcat. Good luck with the IVF!

BrowneyedGirl, congratulations on your second baby. That's great that you got pregnant naturally.

Miamia, I hope your friend has success with the IVF.

Hi Lillith, so sorry it didn't work out for you. Hugs x

Syd, lovely to see you. Good luck in Athens. I don't know anything about serum. I hope it goes well for you. x

I wish you all so much luck, my partner and I finally got our little rainbow at the age of 44. It can happen, fingers crossed for you all xxx

Gesic, that's wonderful. Do you mind me asking whether you did anything in particular that helped?

Nothing in particular, I had had 4 miscarriages over the previous year and a half prior to this pregnancy and knew because of our ages we were unlikely to get any assistance through the nhs and are not in a position to go private.
My other half had sperm analysis and we knew his result was not great so I put him and myself on preconception vitamins, when I got a positive and an early scan the doctor then popped me on high dose folic acid and low dose aspirin.
I had never had any pregnancies prior to hitting my 40's as I never met anyone I wanted to settle down with, we are extremely blessed and know just how difficult it can be especially emotionally x

Hi Ladies,
,
Just wanted to say hi and baby dust to you all. Don't give up hope, I had baby number 4 at age of 43 in Feb. I would also say I am overweight as well. So don't know how it happened. I too think there is a lot of scaremongering!

My son is 18 weeks tomorrow and adorable.

Keep going ladies!

Boaz:wave:

That's great gesic. We are in the same position without NHS help and can't really afford to go private. I'm trying to get my OH to get a sperm test but he's not keen. Good to know the vitamins help.

Boaz, congratulations. That's also really encouraging! It's so nice to hear success stories.

Hi to all the over 40's :)
I am 42 now and we were actively trying for a baby from the age of 39 until about 6 months ago but didn't get a bfp in all that time. We were against getting tested etc as wanted it to happen if it was meant to be. I have a 22 year old from a previous relationship. So after a few years of no success we agreed to call it a day which was difficult but we agreed it was for the best and got a dog! Just realised that we did have sex twice at exactly the right time this month, son lives with us and was away for a few days so we made the most of the privacy and it turns out it was perfectly timed for catching. So I've just entered the 2ww! I know that it is highly unlikely we will have done it as we didn't get lucky when we really were trying, but am now excited at officially being in a 2ww! Will enjoy it whilst it lasts :)

Interested to read as im 36 and wondering about being the other side of 35 now xx

You never know Nikkers. A lot of people conceive once they stop trying. Good luck! x

Treetrunks...36 is still young. There's a lot of scaremongering about the other side of 35 I think. 'The impatient women's guide to getting pregnant' is very encouraging for older women. x

Hi ladies, I remember a few names here. I had a daughter aged 41 with a 20 year gap. A super long time trying so I always think keep going as long as you can. We had ttc for a year or so but gave up last year. However, I am now on CD 33 . Af is late for sure, i have had a 28 day cycle all year. I have been convinced periods coming since last Thursday as have had cramps. I am not testing as we have only dtd once this month (had to check that with hubby). We have a cruise booked later this year and had a difficult year with family death and illnesses. So really we haven't been ttc. I am wondering how long I can go without testing. Convinced myself it just can't be.
