Anyone have any suggestions on how to get lo to feed? She seems in so much discomfort when sucking her bottle she keeps breaking off every few minutes and crying. It's horrible to see her in so much pain. I'm really cross this wasn't picked up on earlier when I mentioned the white on her tongue. She must have had it ages now. She hates the stuff you have to give her for it too.
Just wondered if there was any other way I could get her to feed as I'm worried she isn't getting enough milk into her due to the discomfort.
Did anyone else have problems with feeding when their lo's had thrush?

I don't have any experience hun but could you try a plastic beaker or syringe instead of a bottle?
Hope LO is better soon x

teething gel or powder will numb it and allow her to feed i think hun, worked here

Great idea! Will get some later! Xx

I'm still having real trouble getting her to sleep, don't know if it's all connected to the problems with her mouth. :( x

Thanks for the idea xx

Wss ruby had thrush which was missed on 2 occasions . It was that bad I could barley get her to have more that 8oz of milk . I started putting some
Teething gel on and when she was finally on the correct medication it cleared up quickly and she began feeding a lot better xxx

Thanks for your replies, I'm pleased to say that her medicine must be working because she has drained 3oz at each feed today without stopping and crying!!! She has gone off to sleep easier too so I'm hoping she's starting to feel better. I'm not counting my chickens yet but I'm quietly hoping I might have a better night with her tonight.
I don't think I can cope with another night like the last two!! Fingers crossed for me! Xx

just persevere hun your doing really well. in 3 more weeks she will have been smiling at you for a week or so and might be a lil better :)

My hope was short lived, been pretty much awake since 2am for the third night running. She was an angel yesterday and I was so hoping for a half decent night. She's screaming the house down now, I'm so struggling with this. I feel so miserable and tearful. :(

have you been the doc or asked the hv for any hints? what do u do when she wakes in the night. i know its hard hun at that age even my lo woke and refused to go back to sleep and it did my head in, id be reduced to burying my head under a pillow while my oh took a turn trying to soothe her. only thing that worked was rocking her off in my arms or feeding her to sleep on the boob while wraped in a blanket so that when i put her down she didnt notice and it took me a few weeks to perfect that one!

I've been to the doctor and spoke to him yesterday too. Saw the health visitor today and she suggested we try coleif as she thinks she has colic (she saw me feeding her and the pain Mia was in). A lovely lady at the children's centre I went to this morning gave me two bottles of coleif she had got on prescription but doesnt need anymore so that saved me a fortune!!
They told me if the nystatin hadn't done anything in another couple of days to contact them so I could try something else and I've got some dentinox teething gel to put on her tongue before feeding.
I see the doctor again on Monday as he wanted his students to see her as experience for them dealing with feeding problems so if there's still no improvement at least I know I will be seeing him then.
Feeling a lot better now, it's just that initial morning bit where you're absolutely shattered and they haven't settled for hours. It just does your head in.
I try everything to comfort her, swaddling, rocking, walking about, oh takes her for a while and if all else fails she sleeps on me. Sometimes you think she's asleep and when you put her down her eyes open straight away! It's so frustrating! Things can only get better!!
I met a lady today who's eight week old baby sleeps 11 hours a night!!!!!! I can only dream!! Xx

use a syringe instead of the stupid spoon they give you, harrys just got rid of thrush, he didnt have a problem feeding because it was mainly at the back of his tongue and on his cheeks but just got to keep giving her the medicine and stick to it and go back to dr if it hasnt cleared up harry had to have 2 doses of nystatin to clear it.

I was given nyastatin first of all and Logan hated it, he just spat it out every where and it was just getting worse so i asked for something else and they gave me daktarin gel and he loves it! It all cleared up in a couple of days and whenever it has reoccurred just a couple of doses of that and it is gone again!

Have daktarin gel now as the nystatin didn't seem to be dong anything! God I feel like I've spent my life in the doctors and the pharmacy!! X

the daktarin cleared Olivias up really quick x

lol i was at the docs every monday for 3 weeks at one point

It took them an hour to sort her meds for her reflux today!! In the time I sat there Mia woke up wanting a feed and my poor dogs were left in the car (in the shade luckily). God knows why it takes so long!!
