Hi
I have been charting this month properly for the first time, and using Fertilty Friend. Apparently my temp data is inconsistent with the OPK. The OPK was positive Sat and Sunday, but the temp indicates ovulation on Friday, as it was up Sat, Sun and today (monday). I have noticed that the temp is higher in the morning (I take at 6am) if I have a late night so wonder if this could be the reason for high temps Sat and Sun rather than ovulation. We Bd'ed on Friday and Sunday so I hope I haven't missed the window. Any ideas? :?
Thanks Andrea

they are different hun opks tell you when you are about to ov temp tells you when you have. if you had been drinking on those nights that can make your temp higher than normal the next morning and being sleep deprived also when did you start testing with the opks as you might have started your surge late on friday and ovulated in the night then giving you the rise sat sun mon but could still show a positive on opk for a day or 2 xxx

Thanks - I wasn't drinking over the weekend (I had noticed that this gives a big increase in temp) but didn't get much sleep. I didn't realise that you could ovulate so soon after the surge - I had thought there was a 24-36 hour delay. I tested at 6pm Friday night and that was negative. 2pm on Saturday afternoon (as I was out in the afternoon and evening) and 2pm again on Sunday. The Saturday one was the darker of the two but both looked positive to me. So it is possible to have a + on the OPK after you have ovulated?
Thanks for your help - fingers crossed thursday or friday night did the trick (sorry if TMI   )
Andrea :?

Yes, Mine followed the same pattern, I did OPK's @9.00am and 6.00pm and the got almost as dark as the control line, then darker than the control line and then almost as dark again.
It just shows your peak but if you did Ovulate then they will start to get lighter and lighter and will probably be gone tomorrow.

Hope this helps

sorry am confused brain not taking in information today
right if you had a negative at 6pm on friday i would say maybe you ovd middle of the night some time which gave you the rise sat morning and was still showing positive sat afternoon maybe if you had tested later on friday you might have got a positive :? sorry not much help hun xxx

i would say use both as like rach said the opks tell you when you are going to ovulate and charting tells you when you have ovulated.

good luck everyone is different though, sometimes people don't get on with opks or charting you just have to find what works for you.
