Once upon a time

I've written a happy ending for Once Upon a time. I don't know what our ending will be yet because we get our embryo screening results this afternoon, but I wanted to write the happy ending whatever happens. Here it is:

The new wizard was even cleverer than the last one and spent his free time learning about all the newest spells and potions. He gave Patience a potion that wasn’t as painful as the last ones and they started on the first part of the spell.

As they had to travel far away this time, Patience had to get her potions from some different fairies. Unfortunately these fairies weren’t very helpful. Some were too busy to find the right potions and some were very difficult and said they didn’t have the right potions for Patience. Patience spent hours talking to them but time was running out. One day she felt so worried about getting the potions in time that she suddenly felt ill and kept seeing stars bursting in front of her eyes! The next time she went to see the good witch she said that the potion wasn’t working and so they’d have to cancel the magic spell. Patience was disappointed but also glad because it had been very difficult.

A few weeks later she tried again, this time all the potions were ready and this time everyone was very helpful. When Patience saw the good witch to see how the potion was working, she was very pleased, but told Patience she might have to have an operation before the 2nd part of the magic spell. Patience was very worried, she wanted the magic to work but she didn’t want an operation in case she wanted another baby in the future without magic. Patience & Jontil went to stay in the woods with Jontil’s sisters and their families and had to take the potions with them which was a bit annoying but it was ok and they had a nice time. On the Saturday Jontil’s sister told them that she is expecting another baby. They were very pleased for her again but also sad, as they didn’t know when it would ever be their turn.

Soon Patience & Jontil had to go on a long journey to the cave of the new wizard. The wizard told Patience that she didn’t need an operation after all and she was so happy. The first part of the spell worked and the wizard’s assistants worked their magic whilst Patience & Jontil travelled home again.

Then came a tense time where Patience & Jontil had to wait to see if the wizard’s clever assistant had worked a special spell for them, Patience and Jontil were so nervous but when the assistant told them it was good news they were overjoyed! The next day they set off to see the wizard again. He set the last part of the magic in motion and gave them the envelope with the same instructions as before. Patience waited for 2 weeks and tried to keep busy. She wished and wished that this time would be different.

The day arrived at last and Patience and Jontil said one last wish before they opened the envelope. Patience’s hands were shaking as she took out the piece of paper. She looked at it expecting to see the one line that they usually got, but to her amazement there were 2 lines! Patience & Jontil looked at each other and burst into tears of joy. They couldn’t concentrate on anything for the rest of the day, but kept thinking about the baby they had always wanted and how their dream had finally come true!

A few weeks later they went to see another good witch to make sure that everything was ok. She got the cauldron ready and polished it so that they could see their faces in it and waited for a picture to appear. Patience remembered the picture of Suffi’s baby and how she had felt when seeing it, and wished and wished that their baby was growing and safe. The good witch waited as a picture started to appear on the side of the cauldron. Patience & Jontil held hands; they were also holding their breath! Suddenly the good witch frowned as she looked at the cauldron, she moved closer and Patience & Jontil froze in fear. It seemed an age before she turned to face them but as they scanned her face they saw that she was smiling. Look, she said, pointing to the picture on the cauldron. As they looked, they saw that there was not one baby, but two, and they seemed to be curled around each other! Patience was so happy that the tears were streaming down her face, even though she had the biggest smile on her face ever! Jontil was staring at the cauldron, too stunned to speak.

When they told their friends and family, they were all so happy, Patience & Jontil’s nieces & nephews were excited to be getting baby twins to play with. The next few months passed in a whirl of happiness, getting the nursery ready and buying 2 little sets of everything.

The babies were born and they were the most beautiful children Patience & Jontil had ever seen. They brought so much happiness to the little cottage and their smiles brightened up the day of everyone they met. Patience & Jontil never forgot the clever wizard and when anyone asked what present they could buy for them, they asked if they could send gold coins to the wizard so that he could keep learning about all the latest magic spells and help other people’s dreams come true. And Patience & Jontil & the twins lived happily ever after.

I'm glad I put it on here today because I might not have been able to after today. The embryologist called me 2 hours ago with bad news. None of our embryos were chromosomally normal. So it was all just a fairy story for us.

Youre a fantastic story teller... I really feel for you and your pain right now :(
