Go figure.

OK so Galen is teething atm and stirs a bit because of this but I've noticed this past 2 weeks that if OH makes a noise at night it disturbs Galen. Same with me the past few nights because of my bad back. I could not help but wince or scream (quietly) when I moved wrong in bed and it caused him to stir.

OH turned over in bed last night and grunted fairly loudly and Galen was wide awake then. Took about half an hour for him to settle again.

I'd move him in to his own room if we were at home but we are not. Nor will we be for 2 more weeks at least. The spare room here is not good for a baby and cot so won't use it. It has a double cabin bed in it and the window is up high above the bed. So no natural light. Also we have to duck to get under the bed and it has a narrow sliding door. Just moving this makes a huge noise. And the heater is ok but makes the room really warm if the door is shut and cold if open. Plus its bang opposite from the bathroom. None of it makes for being a good room for Galen to go in to. And I want his first room of his own to be his own room, not a strange one in a temporary house.

Any tips for helping him sleep better while still sharing with us? Or just a case of tough it out till we get back home?

Im gussing that the strange house is unsettling him alone sherry and isnt helping matters!

I would just pursue with him and im sure he will settle down soon. x

I believe in not trying to be particularly quiet around babies because otherwise they will be bad sleepers..for instance last night i had 6 of my girl mates round for a natter and a drink i put Hayden to bed at 7 and we were up talking till 3 in the morning, we didn't try to be extra quiet or anything and Haydens bedroom is next to my sitting room..he didnt wake up once! However a friend of mine has always shushed people when her son sleeps and tiptoed around the house lightly as a feather and now he wakes up to any little noise and is a light sleeper. So my advice would be to obviously not have a rave in your room but try to carry on like normal he will become used to sleeping through sounds and he will not wake or be disturbed by little noises or coming into the room etc, honestly an elephant could charge Haydens room once he has gone off and he wouldn't wake! lol

Calleigh got to a point like this that everytime we moved in bed she would stir, but since she has been in her own room she has slept fine and i would say much better not so many stirrings.
I think it may be a case of waiting it out till you return home.

But i do also agree with fran, Calleighs bedroom is right next to my lounge and faces out onto a main road. She doesnt get bothered by the cars or the tv or by anyone chatting away in the lounge. Which i do find strange especially when she stirred at us when she was in our room. Maybe she woke as she knew we were actually in the room with her

Thanks ladies

He is used to some noise and we defo don't tiptoe round him when he sleeps at night. Just for some reason once we go to bed and its quieter obviously he seems to get easily disturbed and wakes. I do think also that his teething is playing a part in his waking also.

I think once we get back home we'll look to getting him in his own room and seeing how that goes. Just have to manage for the next 2 weeks or so till that happens.

I bet you can't wait to get back home

Sorry I don't really have any advice as LO is used to sleeping in many different surroundings as we move about quite a lot (one more reason to co-sleep so that at least she has one familiar 'thing' - me - next to her :D ), but I do hope that the next two weeks will be ok

Aw hun, poor you and poor Galen! I think you are just gonna have to hang in there untill you get home...wont be long

Poor you, back in your own house soon. Maybe, like the others have said, he's just aware he's in a strange place. Also, if he's not been in your room for a while it does unsettle things. I know if we're somewhere and James is in with us, none of us sleep well!
