This is my first post on this site so be gentle.
I am 10 weeks pregnant with my first, I found out 4 weeks ago, I went to the doctors who told me I would hear from the midwife. Yesterday I had a letter from the hospital to say I have my scan on the 3rd July, but I haven't heard from the midwife.
Can you tell me if they still come to your house (that's what my friend told me) or is it all done differently now?
Also I dont feel pregnant AT ALL. I Sometimes feel queezy in the mornings and yesterday i was sick for the first time, but today I feel fine.
I am tired, but people keep saying things like are your boobs firm, and to be honest Ii dont think they are.
Does anyone else not feel pregnant!!!
I suppose I am super paranoid.

they usually come to your house for the booking in appointment and then rest will be at your doctors

I think it probably depends where you live. I've just got a scan date of Friday 13th July (eek!) and that's it.

I understand the not feeling pregnant thing. All my symptoms are very mild and I often wake up feeling absolutely fine. I think I'll calm down a bit once I've had the scan and actually seen him/her.

Yeah its strange, I dont know whether to do a pregnancy test or not!!!!
My belly tells me I am pregnant hehe!!! I just wish it was all baby and no fat lol.

they normally come to your house just to get some details. then its down the doctors every so often.

gratz on your pregnancy hope all goes well :)

yeah, i have no symptoms and was starting to worry there was nothing in there. was dreading the scan in case i wasn't actually pg, but there it was..10wks 5days!
oh and the midwifes don't come to our house-we go to them! can take ages to get an appt tho

You are all reassuring me!!! Thank you. I think I will wait and see about the midwife.
I have my scan booked so that is one good thing.
And fingers crossed everything will be ok.

hi.. i think you should contact the doctors and ask if you have an apt with midwife, we go to the surgery here, i went yesterday and usually they like to see you around 8-9 weeks

you seem to be one of the lucky ones like myself who arnt having bad symptoms, and they usually start to get better about 10-12 weeks.. so try not to worry xx

Hi

I am 11 weeks and seen the GP to confirm pregnancy (like i needed to go out of my way so they can do my blood pressure and say congratulations :bored: ) then she said she would refer me to the midwife. not heard a thing yet. I have tried phoning the surgery well you know what doctors surgeries are like to get through to :?
The last few days my symptoms have stopped and dont feel pregnant at all apart from my little bump starting to appear :cheer:

Try not to worry im sure you will be fine :D Sorry had a little moan there not usually so cyinical x

Thats good then(well its not) but now I know its not just me.
I totally agree with everything you say, about symptoms etc
I thought I might phone my doctor later!!!!
Have you had any news on your scan date yet?
xx

I have been given a phone number to call my midwife when i am 10 weeks... then they come to your house for a booking in appt...
I know what u mean about not feeling pregnant.. i am worried about going to the scan also... i mean i got 2 positive tests... but only really had symptons for the past week.. now they all seem to have disappeared apart from the tiredness

Hi,

I found out I was pregnant just over a week ago and moved to a new area about 2 months ago. I haven't registered with a new doctor yet so have been going to my old one which is only about 45mins journey but in a different borough & health authority. My friend still lives at my old address so correspondence wouldn't be a problem. As you can choose which hospital to give birth at (I'd choose my new local one) does it matter if I don't register at a new docs? ie, does the midwife have to come to my house? etc.......Sorry, bit boring but if

No news on scan yet :( Although i had one at 6 weeks for spotting which was ok and seen the heart beat. I to will try and phone the doctors later to.
Good luck with your scan bring us a picture to see!

Gruntie 2 I did 4 tests hehe!!!! And I still dont believe it.
I might call the midwives and see what they say, I just dont want to sound desperate, but it such a big thing especially in your first 12 weeks and to hear nothing, I think is terrible.

mandspice I would be careful with your docs etc, because if you need emergency help, and you have to travel 45 mins to get to the doctors it may not be to clever.
But saying that it is entirly your choice and I think you can choose, but might just be worth phoning your new docs and checking!!

xxxx

I wondered why i was told to phone the midwives at 10 weeks.. i thought maybe i would be in contact earlier .. just to arrange an appt with her as it will be hard to get time off work with her coming to my house... I am off work for 1 day next week.. but i won't yet be 10 weeks so thats a pain in the backside...

Leeste - yes i would phone to see why u haven't been contacted.... if they said they would!!!!!!

Woohoo
About time on Sunday I had a letter to say my booking in appointment will be next Monday.
So now I have my first Midwives appointment and my scan booked!!!
At last, hopefully after these I will start to feel a little bit more pregnant!!!!
xx
:cheer:

For me the midwife came to my house at 8 weeks, and then I didn't see another one until 20 weeks. This was basically completely wrong and I shouldn't have been left that long. Also didn't get any of the goodies on my 8 week visit because the midwife was a stand-in for one who was ill, and she didn't bring any stuff with her.

I didn't feel pregnant for ages other than the morning sickness, though I was lucky that I never actually was sick, just felt the nausea.

What amazes me is that they say the first 12 weeks are the most crucial and yet I will be 12weeks when i see the midwife for the first time.
To me that is wrong!!!!

Tell me about it! I think they leave you hanging in the air a lot of the time. My doctor didn't even advise me which foods I ought to avoid - just told me not to smoke or drink (which I knew anyway). I had to ring my friend and ask her instead.

There is a part of me that thinks all pregnant women should get an early scan between 6 and 8 weeks just so that you can hear the heartbeat and be reassured that it's all ok.

I completely agree.
All i can say is thank god for the internet!!!
xx
