OWWWWWWWW!!!

my poor nipples are red raw with this thrush, the hv said the doctors should have given me tablets as well as cream as it wont go away with just the cream, cos its hurt so much to feed alyssa i now have uber sore nips and to top it off i have a couple of cracks on the left side one due to bad/ lazy latching where i couldnt tell the difference cos it hurts so much anyway. i actually cant believe im still trying to do this lol. id give up if i wasnt so stubborn.

I feel your pain. I've been to the dr today about my nips she said it wasn't thrush but is just from general bf and my nips need to harden!!

yeah, i expected that. its just sucky that now as well as the already painful process of hardening i got tender red raw nips. my OH said last night that i didnt seem to be in as much pain when i was in labour as i do when im bf'ing

My sister had mastitis and had to go on formula for a time. She managed to get her milk supply back up again afterwards and return to breastfeeding. If you do have to stop ( although it sounds like you really want to persevere- you're a hero btw!) it doesn't mean all hope is lost. It sounds blinking awful, my nipple has only just started stinging at 5 weeks, ouch- think I'm getting lazy with watching her latch as she seemed to do it herself fine til now.

they didnt say how long it would take, hv called my docs and said they need to give me some fluconazole tabs as well as the cream so waiting on a perscription for that and in the meanwhile im dosed up on painkillers and mostly trying to feed from both boobs but managing mostly to feed off the right one lol. its a hell of a lot less painful. shes been having a bit of a growth spurt i think as she started only going 2 hrs between feeds the last few days. ive been trying to express a bit too every day so will express from the left and feed from the right til it heals a little. at least i was already giving a bit of formula lol. still not giving more than 3 bottles a day tho

I went to docs last week and was told no, apparently some chemicals in it can pass through your milk, pessary only I'm afraid xx

Awww I really feel for you. One of my sisters had thrush when bf and cried during feeds (hers went undiagnosed for two weeks). She perservered too and said once you get the full treatment it improves quickly! I hope it does for you too soon honey. You're doing unbelievably xxxxx

take painkillers n lube up the pessary hun. im told for thrush i have now i need to have a loading dose of fluconazole n then a few smaller doses of it as well as cream for me n drops for lo as the amount that passes thr in my milk is negligible n otherwise the thrush wont go totally

the cream has helped n as long as i take paracetamol pretty religiously its not untold agony to feed her today. ive been quite unlucky so far lol

id almost stopped taking paracetamol and the ibuprofen i was given at hosp had run out. just had to buy more lol

Were you given that stuff for baby? When i had it i spoke to bf nurse and she said to dip my clean finger in and rub it all around babies mouth rather than spooning it into them and also coat your nipple before feeding then use cream on nipple after. It cleared mine up much quicker that way. I feel your pain, its miserable. Im just coping with a milk blister and blocked duct, that's well over a week I've had this now and Kynon hates feeding on the sore boob so pulls and messes about on it which really hurts!

i was gived drops, nystan, for her, i tend to put it in her mouth before a feed but its all gone now n i dont think its done much. will ask for more today at docs cos ive got an app for her due to her getting a sticky gross eye. conjunctivitis or something i think
