Only been back for 4 days and had to take annual leave already is my poor buba was close to being admitted to hospital last night.

All weekend she has had high temp, bad sickness (not her usual reflux) and diarrohea (she usually suffers constipation).

Anyway we got an emeregency appt wi GP at 4.40 yest-to discover she has gastrointeritous, was pooing out water, the rehydration drinks, everything. GP said she was slightly dehydrated and if it got worse she would be taken in to the childrens hospital. I was breaking my heart, she is only 4months.

Last night things got worse, she had a dirty nappy, so put her up on the changing unit, un done her nappy, then splat, and I mean splat, she had sh*t all up the wall, it came fitring out her bum and went all down the wall, on the air freshner plug etc. So that was enough for me, the calpol had gone thru her. I foned NHS 24 told me to go to out of hours clinic and to pack over night back, as it was likely she would be kept in.

I hate these out of hours, took her in, she started smiling at the Dr, he took nappy off, and she pooed all over him  then started screaming, and do you know that because she was crying he said, she isn't completely dehydrated as she is still producing tears so there is no need for her to stay in and sent us home under the instruction that as long as she is taking 1/2 ounce of water every few hours she will be ok!! I thought they need plenty of liquid at her age.

Today she is still the same and I don't know what to do! She has took 2 ounce this morning of water, that's been in 12 hours!

Foned her nursery, and they said a few kids have come down with it! Argh it's such a nightmare.... Sorry it's so long  I just hate Dr's nowadays....

my OH had that last year and spent a full week in bed ill puking and shitting sorry tmi. It was awfull what made it worse as i was PG with Colby and couldnt go near him to clean it up OH mum had to stay with us as everytime i herd him puke i would puke too. Luckily i didntget it butAdele got it and spend 4 hours in hospital on a drip. she was fine after 24hrs butthat NHS 24 is a waste of time basicly if your head isnt hanging off then they dont see the need for you to see a doctor.

If i was you i personally would go to your own gp for yet another opinion and your LO is only 4 months no way is half an oz of water enough for them in 12hrs.

Does she have a temp?

I really hope she gets better as i knwo when my OH had that afterthe first 4 days the docs finally gave him anti biotics and other stuff to stop him shitting and puking. He said he wouldnt wish this on his worst enemy and when he says that i knew it was bad and he was in so much pain as he hadnt been eating and couldnt keep water in at all it would either come out one end or theother withing 10 mins.

Hope they give her something to help as withall the shits shes getting she may end up with bad nappy rash poor we soul.

Taake care hun and big hugs to your LO

if the childrens hospital has a casualty department you could take her there? Some docs just arent child minded.

Hope she feels better soon poor wee soul.

Could the nursery give you the numbers of the other mums so that you could pull together and see whats working and whats not?

I think there is a nasty bug going round. Poor little maid :( :( :(

A friend's son who is 2 went for a poo 15 times on Friday and screamed the place down everytime she had to change his nappy. I'm hoping Ella doesn't get it.

(((hugs)))
