Hi ladies,

I was reading through some pregnancy mags earlier and I saw that it said if you are going to paint or lay a new carpet in the nursery then it should be done 12weeks before baby due to be fume-free?? anyone else heard of this?
It never really crossed my mind about when it should be painted (obviously not days before due date, but most babys are in parents room to start with anyway).
If that is the case then I best start buying paint..

I'm actually panicking now as I think I've got 14wks left and I don't think that is enough time to buy everything.. Its just going so quickly! But thankfully I have all the big things (pram, cot, car seat etc) so least I can pick a couple of bits up each week... I'm sure I will get there just in time! :) xx

Ooh I hadn't heard this, I think 12 weeks is a bit much tho, we finished our nursery a week ago and the paint smell has pretty much home already, like u say baby will be in your room at the start anyway so I wouldn't worry :)

I've never heard that before but it seems a bit long - if you opened windows etc surely it'd be fume-free well before 12 weeks had passed? We just painted our bedroom last week where bubs will be for the first few months and I'm pretty confident it's fume free now!

Meant gone not home, darn predictive text!!!

Yer I did think that it was a bit extreme... Still might tell my OH its true just so I know it will actually get done soon, as if I let him do it when he is ready he will be running round with a paint brush while I'm in labour! X

Well mine was only finished last weekend :p

We're doing ours now and only have 6 weeks until bubs is due. Like you say most babies are in with Mum & Dad at first so that gives the room plenty of time to de-smell! :) x
