Hi,
Looking for advice really, being a mature mother at 39yrs, I was suprised that Essex Health Authority dont offer them on the NHS. I had my first child in Nottingham and they were given as routine.

Has anybody paid privately ?
Or can recommend any scanning studio, Ive called a place on Harley Street and they wanted £150 :x

Thank-you

Sorry I can't help honey, just wanted to say how shocked I am that the NHS doesn't offer this. £150 seems quite expensive, what are you going to do?

Is this the one done by ultrasound or the one done by blood test? I get confused between the two?

xxxx

I have just had a combined Nucal scan at 13 weeks and it was amazing. Although I am only 30 and had no real reason to be concerned, it is something I had to do to ease my mind.

The test itself doesn,t cover everything, but it is so lovely to see the baby again, hear the heartbeat for the first time. We have a DVD of the scan and more photo's, but more importantly I can now be excited about everything because the test came back with very low risk.

We had ours done at Banbury, Nr Oxford for £140 but I think they also do it at Leamington Spa. I found that it was cheaper to travel than to have it locally. My nearer hospital charged £250.

Ultra sound counts the folds of skin at the back of the neck and its approx 94% accurate, the blood test is the triple test and is approx 64% accurate.

Hi kkibble, was this a baby bond studio ?
What was the name of the clinic, and what was the scan called ?
Thanks
