not sleeping in moses basket

Same happens to me, she used to sleep fine in there but now wakes up and cries straight away when I pop her in there. I don't know if it's because it's too small for her now or that she doesn't like not being able to look around.
It's the same with the pram attachment we have for her pushchair, she screams in it but is fine when we put her in the push chair attachment because she can look around. I didn't think we'd be using the pushchair bit for around 6 months!

we had this problem from day 1! We are trying to teach her to settle herself, but she really doesn't like being put down anywhere to sleep.

Sorry i dont have an answer.

My midwife showed me this thing where you go in every 5 mins and pat them on the side so it gently rocks them and is reassurance but you are not picking them up.We do that at bedtime and she stops crying when i do it them starts again a minute later so it takes a few goes still! But she does go to sleep and it proves to us there is nothing wrong. I cannot wait for the day where she will go down in cot and go to sleep without screaming first!

What do you do during the day for your LO to sleep?

Lola wouldn't sleep in her basket she would cry as soon as i put her down but i got her a comfort blanket and slept with it in my bed for a couple of nights and she's ok now :)

She won't sleep in it during the day though if she's tired i normally but her in her swing and she will usually go to sleep if not then i will but her in her pram and push her up and down until she goes over

I had the same probems with imogen and put her in her cot and she generally a lot happier, but also found it vital she got enough milk during the day so she would settle for bed and she does now as she knows her routine..
If you have to do stuff during thew day girl and dont like leaving little one pop them in a bouncer and take it with you so you can still do your jobs and talk to them so they know your there.
When imogens over tired and screams out of temper i put her in her cota and put her mobile on she she and i can have time out and so she knows i wont keep running when she crys.

I had the same problem when he brought Fynn home..he wouldnt settle for the first few nights... my mum suggested rolling up a towel either side of the basket so baby fits in nice and snug... they feel comfortable and snug then.. leave a good gap at the top for babys head for safety.. baby has came from somewhere warm and snug ..so being put in a basket probably doesnt feel very cosy.

We tryed the towel thing for about a week and a half til he got used to the basket..and as soon as we started it..he slept like a dream..even after we took the towels out!

Hope this helps!

We had this problem with Cara. We tried putting her in it still awake so she would get used to it, tried using a rocking stand, tried getting a different mattress, and warmed it up before we put her down. Nothing worked! In the end we realised she didn't like not being able to see us because of the sides of the basket, so we bought her cotbed and put it right up next to our bed with just the one side up - I can easily bring her over to me to feed in the night, and she feels like she is close to us but is actually in her own bed. She slept much better straightaway!

Good luck :D

Have you tried swaddling her in a blanket shortly before she falls asleep on you, then rocking her to sleep in the blanket and then transferring her into the moses basket/cot? Failing that, put a part of your clothing in the cot with her so it smells like you? Make sure the room is warm enough too, she may wake up if she's cold and used to your body heat.

Some babies outgrow their moses baskets. And I hope she lot happier in her cot, my baby loves her cot.

Pad the mattress well so its lovely and soft for her.Mines all padded and Immy loves it, and she just sleeps with a gro bag and will go nearly all night, it has taken time and patiance though. And a routine of having her in bed at 7.30 every night.

It has taken a long time, probably amonth for her to settle completely, I dont even have her crying when its bed time now.

I hpe it works out for you ad Jayla.
