Not finishing a bottle

My 6 and a half week old is now completely bottle fed and is gaining weight well, but he almost never finishes a bottle in one go, and these are still the smaller bottles of 120ml. When he decides he's done, his mouth will clamp shut and he'll usually go to sleep. He's obviously had enough, and gets enough throughout the day, but this means he is feeding very often! During the night, this is really starting to take its toll as I'm not getting more than 2 hours sleep at once.

Has anyone else had this experience? And is there anything I can do to get him to take more at once?

Do you still use slow flow teats? Of yes try changing to medium flow.

My little man still only eats 4oz bottles at 6 months so don't worry too much although his constant waking and feeding suggested he's still hungry. Do you wond halfway thro maybe he's got wind and its making him feel full

We've just started using the number 2 teats, which has made him quicker, but not take any more.

Emily has never been able to take large amounts in one go - I think some babies just have smaller stomachs. It is annoying sometimes cos it makes going out and about a bit more tricky cos I have to feed her so regularly. The most she has ever took in one go is 6 oz during a growth spurt, but usually she takes about 4oz per feed. She is gaining weight ok though. I think it's just harder for us mummies cos it means more work!!

Babies have very tiny tummys, some more than others so you do need to just feed them little and often unfortunately!! As the others said maybe try medium flow teats and winding throughout. H is a glutton and always drains his bottles but babies the same age are only draining 6oz!!

Alyssa is combi fed and only takes 3-5 oz from a bottle now at 4 months, shes only ever taken more during a growth spurt lol. she almost always leaves an oz or so. i just make 4 or 5oz bottles and let her have as much as she wants out of them. if she drains 5oz and wants more i can bf her too. usually she will only take 3 bottles a day anyway and sometimes wont take one til after ive offered boob anyway.
