My son has headlice  im not ashamed cos i know all kids get them, but hes given it to me :wall: i have been using the comb and really need to treat myself, i treated cameron this morning and he now seems to be clear :cheer: bradley and mark are both free from them as well, i got them cos i was cuddling him last night after not being very well..

the point is what can i use to get them off and away from me cos im breastfeeding and most of the products say you cant use them :x

anyone please...

tea tree shampoo and conditioner should be fine hun

You can buy non-insecticide stuff now, look online.

go to the chemist and ask, there will be something you can use to give your hair a blast.
i use prioderm or have done in the past. mine haven't had them in gaes (touch wood)

yes just make sure its safe when BF.

THATS WHAT I USED ON CAMERON oops caps are on, and it says not to use if breastfeeding.. gonna send mark to get some t tree stuff from asdas's for myself..

god its disgusting i know but hey we all been there

conditioner and a good nit comb, my friend uses a mix of vodka and vinegar but I don't know if it works :?

We all get them hun so don't worry **scratches**

wahoo.. cheers urchin

babylicious, mark said vinegar as well, his mam used that on all 9 of her kids...

I would do what Babylicious suggested and just stick with wet combing with conditioner and nit comb.

I got then of the boys when I was breastfeeding, and we used a shampoo the chemist recommended, but found that you it only irradicates the lice, not the eggs, and you could only use it once aweek and by then the eggs had hatched and the lice grow to adults and laid eggs again grrr, and the boys still had some after 2 weeks of usage. so just went back to wet combing, I did it every 2 days (giving the eggs time to hatch) and a week later no more lice what so ever.

Was better with the boys to, esp callums as he has very sentive skin.

trouble is with the combing with conditioner thing it takes ages to get rid. And it takes time doing it too everyday for up to 6 weeks

you're better off blasting them with shampoo and done.

Yeah, but most of the shampoos without insectside and chemicals only get rid of the Lice and dont kill the eggs, you normally have to use 2 applications ( aweek apart) and recommend wet combing inbetween applications because they know the new lice will hatch a mature enough to lay eggs within that time.

I suppose it depends on what sort you get, but all the ones I've tried have been like that and the boys still have them weeks later.

As for time I suppose it depends on how big of an out brake it is, I normally comb the boys hair for about 5 minute each and mine for 10 when we've had the little blighters and like I said their normally gone after about a week (10days max)

Although that said if anyone does find a really good one please let my know my boys get then about every 4-5 months (maybe abit more) I'm sure theres someone that has them at there school and their parents dont bother treating them

i used to spend ages combing through my three girls hair plus mine and hubbys only to be reinfested again the next day :wall:
then i discvered rioderm and used that and it was brill. they have hardly had them since the application a year ago. Don't know if its owt to do with it.
i don't wash their hair more than twice a week eother now. that helps loads.

yes and they take them to nursery and school and dont say anythi8ng at all to anyone hence why it spreads, im not soft on subjects like this it really winds me up.

My lad has lice and now my wife, its disgusting i tell ya, i know everyone gets them but we have a new baby as well, what happens if he gets them, cameron is always head to head, and i tried stopping him earlier and all hell broke loose, tantrums .. what do you say to a 3 yr old, that has headlice, they dont understand what you say do they

I suppose thats the difference budge you have girls with more hair, so is more work for you :D

yeah you do have to do it every 2 days as it only gets rid of the lice (which is also what the shampoos I've used do), and then the eggs hatch after anouther 2 so then you have to do it again before they mature to lay eggs.

So do you just need to use Rioderm once to get rid of an infestation.

I suppose it doesn't matter to much for me now anyway as I've stopped BF'ing now :( , so could use one of the chemical ones if I whated, but hate the smell and they would proberly sting callums poor head.

mark its importnat you don't make your kids feel disgusting having head lice. Its not their fault and the kids up at schools fault either.
i look at it like they have caught a cold. I don't make them feel dirty or digusting. :)

make a point of talking about the lice out loud in the playgroud or something though. let everyone know you are going through the boys hair everynight trying to get rid!!! might make some parents sit up and listen :x

sorry i think i said it wrong, what annoys me is when parents dont say that there kids have them to begin with, if no one knows then how are other parents supposed to find out!when its too late and then the whole family has to go through it
cameron has been quite good with it, hes been telling me how him and mummy have been getting rid of eggs and how mummy said its not nice to have, sorry if i came over rong budge didnt mean it like that,
