Hello ladies,
I went to see my GP yesterday and she told me that I can't use antihistimines whilst i'm pregnant NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! I often have random allergic reactions to things so what am I supposed to use now?
Any home-made remedies that you know of that I could try instead? I don't know how i'll go 9 months without something, esp once hayfever season hits!

Drinking apple juice seems to counteract my hayfever a bit, not a mircle cure but seems to ease the symptoms. Has done ever since I was a kid.

I'd go to your pharmacy and ask what they can suggest for pregnant women - must be something classed as safe.

Interesting I bought some 'Mum & Bump' vitamins from Sainsburys and on the packet it says, if pregnant consult a doctor before use. That made me laugh seeing as they're designed for pregnant people.

:rotfl: Fantastic!!!
She said that piriton might be ok to take as it's such an old drug but the problem is no trials have been done to check if it's safe. So it'd be down to whether I want to risk it or not. I just won't have to go anywhere!!

I also had to stop my medication and suffer from annual rhinitis, and allergic to lots of things like yourself!

I had to go through the whole hayfever season last year in absolute misery, I couldnt even go outside for days - we were living in France at the time, and as well as having our own fields, we were also surrounded by fields and farms - the hay making month was totally unbearable!! My French doctor refused point blank to give me any medication.......despite me pleading with him! I know some UK doctors will prescribe antihisimines, but I would try and stay off them if possible - they dont have enough evidence about the detrimental effects of taking them during pregnancy, and its just not worth it!

In the end I started taking some over the counter homeopathic medication, and after a few days it really settled down the symptoms. If your allergies are really bad then might be worth seeing a proper homeopathist.

Since returning to the UK I have confined my cats downstairs, so there is no longer hair in the bedroom - and all in all coped quite well and my allergies have been much better - you definitely have to have some lifestyle changes!

Good luck with the allergies hun

Oh my EllieBelle, that must have been horrendous for you :( I normally cant survive the summer without a whole host of pills and potions to get me through. One day I forgot to take my meds last year and we went down to work on the allotment...OMG, I did nothing but sneeze from the moment I got out the car, went through a whole roll of toilet paper and felt like death warmed up for the rest of the week!! I normally eat local honey too as that's been helping me combat it.
I'll just have to get myself a funky looking mask I think to help keep the pollen out. Doesn't help that i'm always outdoors. I'll definitely look into the homeopathic remedies if I find I really can't cope....it'll give me a good excuse not to do things!
