Has/does anyone use these? Would you recommend them? LO is 10 days old and I have been lucky enough to breast feed this baby. It's going well but my nipples are getting more and more tender. One of them is slightly blistered (my own fault following a poor latch once) . Each feed is toe curlingly sore got the first few gulps then settles, bit they really do sting afterwards. Using lansinoh after every feed also.

Are nipple shield worth using of should I just man up and hope my nips become used to it soon.

Thanks in advance x

Ive never tried shields sorry but have had pain at first with all 3, since your lo is 10 days and the latch is good the pain should stop soon, keep using lots of the lanisoh sounds like your doing fantastic x

On my second day I was ready for giving up as my nipples were bleeding and so sore, until my midwife recommended getting some! She's now 2 weeks old and although she struggles to latch (she sucks her tongue and doesn't open her mouth wide enough) were managing some if not most feeds without the sheilds! They have been a life saver, there's no way I would have carried on without them ! Xx

I was just about to post about this sorry for jumping on your thread. Because my son was so small the midwives wanted to be sure how much milk he was drinking. So I expressed for the first few days and fed in a bottle. Now he gets impatient with the slow flow of the boob and won't latch for long so I am still having to express.

I tried nipple shields this morning as my midwife suggested them and he fed for 30 mins not 2!!! So happy! However it looks like you shouldn't use them long term. Why?!? If this means I can bf my son I don't see why I can't use them.... Anyone know?
