Almost 2 weeks in & I'm funding the odd feed on my right quite pinchy and painful. My nipples are no longer sore and bleeding and I've had my latch checked many times, its fine!
Thinking of using a nipple shield for one or two feeds during the day to help my nipple regain a bit of shape.

Got them out and omg the teat bit is HUGE! at least 3x the size of my own nipple! Looks scary!

Anyone else used them at all?

Not sure bout the nipple shields. Always thought that they should be used under guidance of a lactation consultant or BF councillor?

Have you tried lanishoh after and before every feed?

Lasinoh has been a life saver!

I have discussed it with the BF support team, although they are not keen their view is if it keeps me BF and prevents me from giving up, its worth a try.

I'm trying to 'rotate' positions I feed her so she latches on my nipple in different places!

May try expressing tomorro and giving her a bottle :-\

Yes I would have thought trying different positions will help. I seem to remember I had a bit of pain that came and went for the first few weeks. But the nipples do toughen up fairly quickly?......

Spinsugar I exclusively use shields as H won't latch without them so any questions just pm me.

They are quite big, me & OH always joke that they give you horse nipples haha.

But just let me know if you have any questions! X

Thank you hun! It sounds silly but do I literally sterilise them and wack them on, then let baby latch and feed as normal? I thought they would give her loads of wind but then I realised they must be air tight when she latched but I suppose she will still swallow a fair bit of air from the teat bit.
But yes, the teat bit is HUGE!! xx

Yeah just sterlise as normal and then wet the area around you nipple with a cotton ball (it doesn't say to do this but I find it helps it stick) and then put baby on as normal. The first few sucks they take down a bit of air but as long as you wind after she should be fine, then it'll create a suction & milk will flow freely.

What I will say I'd pop a muslin under your boob too as milk tends to stay in the shield so when they pull off you can get a bit covered in bm lol.

If it wasn't for the shields I wouldn't be able to bf so obviously I'm a big fan! But they really do help with nipple pain too, you will notice the difference straight away x
