If any of you work for the NHS, please could you give me a few details of the policy for maternity leave and pay, either on here or in a PM!

Thank you in advance!

Heya

I work for the NHS too though I am still STILL waiting for my boss to discuss maternity leave etc with me properly.

I would need to hunt out the maternity policy. I know for definite you get 39 weeks pay but cant remeber how it is broken down (sorry). I am planning on having a year off and taking the 39 weeks pay over the 52 weeks that way I will have a wage every month.

I will hnt out the policy Monday morning unless I find the one I printed off at home and get back to you xx

Go to the nhs employers website or check your own intranet :)

I am not an NHS employee yet so I don't have access to that.

Hi

It's 6 weeks full pay, followed by half pay + smp until the 6 month mark, then 3 months smp. You can then take a further 3 months maternity leave unpaid.

This is assuming that you have worked for the nhs for a certain amount of time (think you have had to be working for at least a week before your BFP). Also when you get half pay + smp this has to be less than your normal rate of pay, if your normal monthly wage is less than this you will get the lower amount.

Hope this has helped! x

I get 2 months OMP at full pay plus half + SMP for 6 months then 3 months SMP you can access nhs employers. Just google for web address x
