Hey, i just joined on here cos i'm feeling a bit rubbish and lonely as my partner is in Australia and wont be here till im 34ish weeks... Also, i have a question! I've been in and out of Hospital for the last few weeks with severe abdominal pain and the only thing the doctors can say it is is ligament pain. They've given me a whole bunch of drugs to take but i'm not too keen on the idea of me or the baby being drugged up, so i was wondering if anyone knew of alternative therapies or ideas for pain relief? Preventative methods perhaps? Anything! I'm petrified of sparking the pain off again, and if it is ligament pain then surely it's just gunna get worse the bigger i get?Has anyone else had/have this? Any suggestions/comments much appreciated, cheers!

Hello hun, aww bless it must be odd with ur partner not here but we r all here to help! Unfortunately I'm no good with alternative therapies I do hope someone can help on here but just wanted to say welcome to u xx

hi hun, I didnt want to read and run and although Im very into alternative therapies, I can only say the hospital must have given you what they thought was safe and if you dont want to take them perhaps have a word with your midwife.
It must be awful not having OH around :(
X

Erm I have bad pain because of a cyst so I know how you feel, and when suffering from bad back pains I didn't like to take any pain killers so I tried meditation... also meditation can help relax you in labour so you can kill 2 birds with 1 stone. I also tried a foot spa thing the other day, you'll be amazed at what a little pampering can do to make you feel better :) xx

Not too sure about pain relief either, sorry! Does gentle exercise help such as swimming or yoga or even strengthening your pelvic floor? Maybe too painful. On a different note I'm on my own a lot too as my hubby works offshore a month at a time in oz and my family are 450 miles away so if you ever need a chat or moan just message me x

Wow your OH will get a shock when he gets back then if he's gone from you looking 'normal' to seeing you at 34 weeks! Quite exciting! Haven't got any advice re the painkillers other than if you can manage without, go for it and try taking it easy, if you need help you need help and whatever dr has given you should be fine.

Hi there and welcome to the forum, sorry to hear that your OH won't be around till nearer the time but what a shock he will have when he see's you! Have you re-mentioned this to the MW and cancelled out SPD? You can normally do a self referral to the physio for exercises when you are pregnant so might be worth a go. Good luck x

hi, why dont you try speaking to an accupuncturist? one who specialises in pregnancy. You could phone, explain the problem and they'll be able to say whether they think they could help....

Hi hun! If it is ligament pain from your pelvis, hips or lower back I think that seeing a physio might help as they will be able to advise you about posture and exercises to get your muscles to support your joints to try and take a bit of strain off the ligaments. Ask your GP or midwife to get referred. Hope it gets better soon xxx

Im new too :D

I just wanted to say i sympathise with you about OH being away. My OH is away and will be away for the birth too. (Long Distance Marriage, subject to visa regulations).

I got diagnosed with SPD 3 weeks ago and was prescribed pain relief, i understand your concerns about taking it, but the GP wouldnt recommend something that wasnt safe in pregnancy.
