Hey guys. I know this sounds weird but my fiances ex wife is due her baby (by her fiance!)by cesarean in two weeks. We get on pretty well due to them having a son together and I want to make a really nice hamper for her instead of getting something for the baby.

So what can I put in it instead of the usual bath stuff and chocolate? I've never had a baby before so not sure what things a new mum would appreciate?

Also with having a cesarean can she actually use perfumed bath or shower products?

Thanks in advance x

I think this is a really nice idea :) It's nice to hear of people getting on rather than arguing all the time :D

I would try and put in some pamper stuff for her maybe? Things from lush? not really sure what else to suggest but think it's a great idea xx

What a fantastic idea, (your right does sound weird at first..:) but understand the want of keeping a relationship) I hope someone thinks if me like this...ha ha.

Well even with a c-section, it is something to look forward to using when she has recovered.

How about a photo frame for her to put the new family photo in?
Big bottle of wine...I sure know what I am looking forward too ha ha

Can't think of anything atm but knowing me I'll think of something later...but I think it is a really lovely plan.

I'm doing similar for family at Xmas.

You can get some nice new mum bath sets.
Some yummy chocolate.
A bottle of wine (I'm looking forward to a nice glass or two ;))
I like the photo frame idea too.
A nice foot cream, nail varnish etc, it'll be nice to reach toes again ;)
Hand cream - to look after hands with all of the hand washing going on.

Thanks girls I'm trying to think of what I'm looking forward to after I've had baby so I'm thinking like a fluffy bath robe and slippers and some rom com books for when baby is sleeping. But they're great ideas too so I might see what they've got in boots cause they've got their Christmas 3 for 2 on pamper sets x

What a lovely idea :) someone got me a lovely fluffy dressing down after I'd had cam and I love it! I can't think of any suggestions for you really! Maybe a comical book for new mums or something? X

As well as what's mentioned I loved receiving cheeses like Brie and biscuits and pâté! I missed these through pregnancy! X

I can second cheese and pate idea.
Neils Yard have stuff for new mums as well.
If you know what she likes food wise, i would go for it

Tapatalking so cant see signatures

What about things like a few face masks & a wee manicure set etc. I got given a wee hamper the other week with loads of things like that in. Soaps from lush, manicure set, facemasks, sweeties, bottle of peach shnapps, some scented candles...
Such a lovely idea tho, like someone else said it's so nice to hear of everyone getting along in that kind of situation rather than it being awkward and full of arguments. xxx

Lovely idea! I would say some comfort things - warm socks or slippers. I loved the new Cussons range - dry shampoo a godsend! X

How about a fancy hot water bottle/wheat bag, deluxe hot chocolate, candles, nice wintery things. What a lovely idea x

what about some herbal teas to help her relax and get a good nights sleep as im sure that will be tough with a newborn. u cud even make up a voucher for babysitting to give her a much needed rest. or what about some quick and simple healthy recipes that fiance can cook as its the last thing she will want to do. i like the idea of the boots 3 for 2 on pamper kits u might even keep one for urself too.

Aw Thanks guys some fantastic ideas!! Think I'll pop a wee bit of everything in!! X

What a lovely idea!!
I thing the bath robe is a great idea too, I lived in one that my mum gave me after I had my daughter, my routine was all over the place and with it being Winter time it kept me nice and warm and snug.

When I had my daughter my parents used to come over and bring us a big bag of food and snacks/drinks. I remember them always bringing me a bottle of this delicious orange juice and these incredibly amazing biscuits that I would eat pretty much all day as I didn't have the time or energy to cook myself something big. I second the hot chocolate idea too :D I drank loads of hot drinks, but now that my daughter is almost 10 months old all over the place I'm always drinking cold 'hot' drinks instead

I say definitely nice 'warm' Winter things and pampering products. How about maybe a photo album too? She'll become a photoholic like the rest of us mummy's! :D xxx

Sone nice lavender candles and linen sprays to help her sleep ? A black out blindfold in case she manages to nap during the day ? Deffinatley some of the forbidden foods ie wine , cheese , nuts and pâté . I was so happy when someone bought that stuff for me !

Aw what a nice thing to do - really is nice to hear about people getting along. It's nice.
The bathrobe is a nice idea.
Chocolates, wine, maybe new pyjamas. Some nice smelly bath and shower stuff wouldn't go a miss at all :)
I like the hot chocolate idea too...xx

I love hearing about people who get on with there ex's it must make life much simpler for everyone!

Some nice bubble bath and stuff like that would be nice, some hair products because mine fell out and went horrid after having Alice so needed some nice hair treatments xx

I just wanted to say firstly, that wow, well done you! That is such a selfless thing to do :yay:

I had a similar problem with buying gifts for a few of my friends and started to try to put a hamper together, but when I looked into it it was going to cost a small fortune to put together anything 'nice'! After a bit of late night Google delving I came across this website The Baby Hamper Company which had surprising funky gifts and were a really reasonable price

I have since bought them for a few friends who have all really love them, and got lots of use form the contents both for mum and baby.
