I'll fill you in on my weekend;

Saturday Afternoon: Went to Matalan & got really uncomfortable backache. When I got home I decided to get on my ball to try and get her head engaged (and to ease the backache), anyway, I was doing it while watching TV and ended up on there for nearly 4 hours (on and off) without even realising it! (I was on PF too  ) so it whiled the time away...

Saturday Evening: Started getting strong BH but again, didn't worry because they weren't 'painful' as such, well, nothing like I imagine early labour to feel like so I just took 2 paracetamol, had a bath and tried to sleep. Woke up at 5:30am with a terrible cramping feeling with a contraction, I made a cup of tea and walked around for a bit, then tried to go to sleep again when they started to ease off.

Sunday Evening: I’d had BH a few times during the day and thought nothing of it. About 6pm I got a bout of diarrhoea and thought I might be coming down with something as everything that had happened previously had worn off. Anyway, at about 11pm I started getting contractions... Not just BH, they had pain with them! They got really close together and more painful but I said to my Mum I just want to sit it out and try to sleep just in case it's a false alarm.

Monday Afternoon: Walked to the shops and on the way home got pretty bad backache (constant) which started to increase with a contraction and then went back to the normal dull ache until another contraction came. It was uncomfortable to sit down but uncomfortable to move (I found moving a bit easier, so decided to go for a walk). They got much worse after walking so I thought it was best to try and sit it out.

Monday Night: Got the same pains but worse!! Mum walked round the street with me at about 11:30pm last night and they were agony and I couldn’t walk through them without struggling so came home, had a bath and they eased off after about an hour. I was trying to fight it last night because I’m not yet 37 weeks (and scared!!) so I don't know what to do?!

It’s physically tiring… I’m shattered now. xx

GO GET CHECKED OUT - it's always better to be checked out than to ignore things.
And don't worry about your dates - you're practically full term and any baby born now would be totally fine! But please call your midwife/the hospital and see what they say :)

They may want to monitor you and see what they think is happening.

Thinking of you xxxxxxxxx

i agree that you should get checked out as well. You're practically full term so i wouldnt worry too much about that. But at least they should be able to tell you if its the real thing or just really bad BH's

like suzie said it's worth being checked out, your not makng a fuss, you've been in real pain, and if nothing else they may be able to put your mind at rest and give you somethung to help with the pain

Wow, I dont know what to say really, but didnt want to read and run.

I had very simular to you when I was 39wks gone, and it was the start of my latent labour, It started on the monday morning, would get worse, then ease back down, right up until 4days later when my proper labour started.

With me I was so paranoid that I must have gone to the hosp 4 times before I was even 2cms dilated! They were very patient in the hospital, and the final time I went up to the hosp I waited until I couldnt sleep through the pain anymore, I knew it was proper labouor then, and when I went back up I was 3-4cms dilated and they kept me in.

Ealry in my 39th week when the latent labour 1st started I spent hours online trying to tell the difference between latent and proper labour, and remember reading that sometime latent labour can last up to 2weeks before proper labour starts. I know that prob not what you want to hear, but on the plus side if you have a long latent stage then you tend to have a shorted proper labour, I was only in proper labour for 5 hours and he was my first baby.

If you're worried hun speak to your Midwife, or even pop up the labour ward (if you're having a hosp birth) that is what the midwifes are htere for, they can check you out see if you are dilated at all, and tell you what to do.

Sending you hugs, as I know its no fun at all having a long latent stage.

Phone your delivery suite/labour ward and tell them exactly what you've told us. They will know what is best to do. Your pretty much full term now so don't worry about that.

As the others have said, get checked out and don't worry about dates - Evie's gonna be plenty strong enough by now

Sounds like latent labour possibly. If getting in the bath stopped them rather than kept them going then chances are nothing will happen just yet. Latent labour can go on for days (mine went on for over 2 before first stage labour actually began).

Get it checked out by your MW and see what she says. If it is latent labour and nothing else happens she may just say to wait it out and wait for labour to kick in. It may well happen in the next few days :)

Your baby is almost full term so don't worry on that side of things either :)

Get checked out, like the others say

Hope the pains ease off for you and that Evie stays in a bit longer. It is no problem if she comes early though, it just means she is impatient to get out and meet you

Keep us updated!

Hey Dannii - you poor thing, have lots of

Like the others say, I would def call the MW, sounds like latent labour.....

Your dates will be fine should Evie come in the next week as your only a few days off full term, and I think I recall you saying you were measuring big/ahead anyway so she could be a week or two older than you think!!

Keep us updated, I hope you feel better soon.

Wow they were quick replies!!

I feel absolutely fine now, like nothing ever happened! I called the MW just to let her know and she said to hang on until the next episode (if there is one!) she said a lot of women have "false labour" and it could amount to nothing (which is what I expected).

Anyway, I feel ok and had a sleep so like MW said, I guess I'll just hang on for a bit! Even if she does arrive a bit earlier than expected, I very much doubt it'll happen before Friday (when I'm 37 weeks).

Even after all this, I STILL think she'll be late! xx

I was going to reply to please get yourself checked, but then I saw that you already called your midwife. I hope everything is okay and this goes away for at least a couple of weeks! :]

Good to hear you spoke to your midwife - it's always better to get some reassurance

You're so close to the finishing line now I'm sure everything will be fine; little Evie will just come whenever she's ready. Hopefully next time it will be the real thing!

Glad you spoke to your midwife. Keep us posted and take care.

Glad youve rang the midwife, i was like that for a week stop start so expecting it again, hope its a sign to come for all August babies, get some rest while you can

I posted in Ask A Mum about how they encouraged labour in case I was doing anything to encourage it   I hadn't done anything to encourage it so hopefully (if I'm past 37 weeks by the time the next episode happens - IF it happens), then I might try and encourage it a bit more?!

Mind you, no matter how hard you try to encourage labour, I'm a firm believer that it'll happen when it happens and not a moment sooner!

We shall see...

Thanks again ladies  x

Hi, hope you got a beter nights sleep last night, how are you feeling today?

Make sure you are eating lots, resting well and getting as much sleep as you can in case baby's coming in the next few days

Nothing much to report today! I'm pretty sure it was all a false alarm as it's been 24 hours now with nothing more than my usual dose of BH & very slight backache!

Got pretty bad diarrhoea today though which has given me a dodgy tummy :? I realy hope this isn't a bug or something, I escaped sickness in 1st tri and don't want to get it now! xxx
