Update-she's happily taken an ounce of boiled water from her bottle-I know BF babies don't *need* water but she's always enjoyed an ounce or so of plain boiled water over the course of the day....a step in the right direction anyway...and goes to show it's not the bottles or teats but rather her being a monkey!
Sydnee's been bottle fed EBM since she was born, having a breastfeed just before midnight as her 'bedtime' feed....
Yet for some strange reason, known only to her, the bottle is now evil and she'll have none of it. As far as I know nothing's made her jump or anything when having a bottle, everything's been the same....she did get really fussy not long ago and we had to get Closer to Nature as she refused other bottles, now those have been 'blacklisted' by her too.
Trying to give her her bottle gets her upset, angry, frustrated and, well, to be honest turns her into 'demon' baby, complete with spitting any milk that happens to enter her mouth from the bottle exorcist style-seriously, I wait with bated breath for her head to start spinning.
I don't know what to do, I know the more breast feeds she has the 'further away' so to speak she is from the bottle, however I'm loathe to try too much without any advice as I fear it's nagatively reinforcing the bottle iykwIm?
She will take it 50% of the time after a few minutes fuss (whch feel like a lifetime in baby screaming) maybe she would the other times after a little longer??
I do offer her bottle every feed, I've also tried offering her an ounce between feeds, or shortly before she's due a feed, to see if she'll accept it better when not hungry or frustrated, but she just upsets herself.
The times she's gotten herself upset and we've resorted to breastfeeding I have calmed her down before giving her breast, to try and make less association again....
I just don't understand baby logic lol the only thing I can think of is that now she can express so much more emotion than previously she see's boob as comforting???
Does anyone have any ideas??? Mother said to leave her and she'll have it when hungry, but I wasn't keen on this, plus she talks that much s**t I never take advice from her (she was alone with Syd for half an hour and gave her a load of chocolate...which annoyed me as not only is she still very little, we weren't going to give sweets etc as a rule, certainly NOT before she was eating a range of other foods, not that she's anywhere near ready yet, and then only occasionally, oh, and Syd spent the day trying to poo thanks to it)
So, what do I do?? I wish I knew her reasoning, it'd be so much easier to handle it then. It doesn't really help when someone else gives her it either, though again, my OH doesn't really try, as soon as she starts getting a bit frustrated, ie has the teat in her mouth and pulls a face, he hands her over sharpish. She also won't take SMA gold, which I tried an ounce with, as she often had SMA due to low blood sugar, and really tucked into. I have several dental appointments over the next few weeks (next one on tuesday), and a day in hospital where they're removing my wisdom teeth under sedation, so we really need to get this resolved.
