We've been weaning for about 5 weeks and she's loving food but has gone off her bottle.
This is an average day:
Breakfast 8am - Wheetabix made with one scoop of formula
Bottle 10am - 4oz drank after a bit of a battle and persuading
Lunch 1pm - Jar of baby food, cherry tomato as finger food, piece of fruit as finger food, petit filous and 4oz bottle
Dinner 4.30pm - Jar of baby food, veg as finger food and a miniscule amount of water (she hates the water :( )
Bottle 6.30pm - 6oz

She's only getting about 15oz of milk a day, is this enough? I want her to up her liquid intake of water but she doesn't like having the bottles now and not really getting on with a cup with spout yet. It's been a struggle to get her to drink from the bottle since she was tiny as she seems to have problems with breathing through her nose a bit so it's great that she gets on with food so well. I don't want her lacking in any vitamins etc that she may need.

i think 15oz a day is ok, ava has about that everyday, actually her meal plan looks a bit like yours. as long as she seems happy with that i think its ok :D

i think it takes time to get used to water, we offer it to ava after her porridge, lunch and tea and she has only recently started taking it properly, before she would just take it from the beaker and spit it out the sides

ETA: i give ava vitmains (Abidec) to ensure she is still getting everything she needs as well as all the goodness from milk and solids.

Sorry Im not entirely sure on teh amount of milk that yoru LO should be having but maybe you could try giving a bottle before food that ways she fills up on milk rather than solids first.

Try a bottle as soon as she wakes then give breakfast half hour - 45 minutes after her bottle.
Same with lunch, try her with a bottle then lunch half hour after.

I wouldn't worry too much about the water, we've only managed to get DD to take it recently. She was on a total milk strike (about 6 weeks) until last week but it did coincide with her having a tummy upset. Do you offer her the milk first? At this stage milk is still quite important and she needs about 500ml of milk a day (I think that'about 18oz?)s but this includes things like yoghurt and milk in cereal etc. We always give Becky her milk shortly after she wakes and she has breakfast about an hour or so later, this really helped when she was "off" her milk as she's always starving in the morning. Maybe keep trying with the cup too.

Hope that helps, it was just a phase for us

My LO did this when i started weaning her at 5 months before i knew it she was refusing breakfast, dinner and tea bottles alltogether so i had no choice but to up to food intake instead. She had her morning bottle and a bottle before bed but wouldnt have any more than that. so She must of only had, at most, 16oz a day. there wasnt much i could do as i couldnt force feed her lol.. My Hv said that it was ok for her to do this as long as she ate brekkie dinner and tea and had those 2 bottles a day xxx

She just starts wriggling, trying to escape, whinging and pushing it away when we give her a bottle :wall: .

As soon as we put her in the highchair and she sees the pot with the nosh she gets all excited. When we're spoon feeding the purees she would quite happily let us keep shovelling it in all day.

Her bum is starting to get a bit sore so her liquid intake definitely needs to go up as her wee is probably a bit strong and poops are a bit hard.

Is there anyway to get more liquid in her diet??

Have you tried water? My LO wouldnt touch water either so my HV suggested heinz baby juice, just add a bit of this to the water to add a lil flavour its already diluted so it really is just for taste x

I've only seen the Heinz juice that doesn't need diluting, I've looked in Tesco and Superdrug. I've got some Heinz pear juice but don't give her much of it as worry about the sugar intake (she's a bit hyperactive without sugar). I could dilute it anyway  , will try that tomorrow with breakfast :D .

yes thats the one i used. already diluted. But i diluted it extra so the water had flavour but wasnt all juice.
Give it a try and let us know if she likes it lol xx

up to the age of 1 they need to be taking in a pint of dairy a day. that doesnt have to be all milk. so if she had a day when she not fused on milk just give her an extra yoghurt or try some grated cheese. should go down a treat if shes enjoying her grub.

We found the same thing has happened to us. Ds loves her food but is refusing bottles or taking them with a battle. Have you tried mixing in a couple of oz with veggies. A thick veggie puree will easily take a couple of oz of formula milk and she wolfs it down.
