Hi everyone

Super excited to meet some new people :)

Just wondering if anyone could offer any advice on relieving morning sickness. I was pregnant about 3 years ago and sadly lost it but I was sick as a dog for weeks. I've already noticed quite a lot of nausea already so I think maybe I'm just one of those people who gets really sick. Does anyone know any tips to help ease it? :( xx

Well. I went out for my works Christmas do yesterday and missed all the fun! I'm still stalking the testing threads and just wanted to say a HUGE congratulations Laura! I've had my fingers crossed for you.

I had pretty bad nausea between 4-8 weeks. Having a bottle of water with my constantly to sip helped, as did orange juice. I kept a pack of rich tea biscuits on my bedside table for when I woke in the early hours and needed to settle my stomach. Salted crisps helped. But I found the most effective thing to be eating little and often. Every 1.5-2 hours I'd have a yoghurt/piece of fruit/packet of crisps instead of trying to force big meals down. That helped a lot!

Hope it eases soon for you (but then you might miss it, as it can be reassuring!)

I haven't found any cure so can't help you there!! Can't even stomach water some days x

Try not to let your tummy get empty. I went to the doctors both pregnancies to get anti sickness tablets which were great but didn't stop it completely. I've also found plain stodgy foods helped and I layed off the fizzy drinks as they tended to upset my tummy.

Agree with Claire. Try eat anything every couple of hours. Mine is worse when my stomach is empty. Also lemon in water helps me. Sometimes just sitting smelling a cut lemon works. Weird but true. Citrus is meant to be good for nausea. And ginger but that doesn't work for me. Try eating crackers or biscuits before you get up in the morning or something similar. Try plain foods but watch out for constipation as I found the food that was helping nausea made me constipated.

The joys lol. Congrats and I'll see you in the July forum x

haha what an awesome combination of food! I find it's first thing in the morning for me until about 11am and as the day goes I feel better then night time I feel bad again, it's really funny how everyone is so different!

I am currently in bed at the moment trying to inspire myself to do uni work hahaha xx

Haha golden wonder salt and vinegar work for me too! Weird since they're sooo strong lol

I haven't found much that has helped, but I can only echo what has been said here. Eat little and often. I was astonished how hungry I was from early on in the pregnancy. I am not usually one for snacking between meals, but these days it's the only way I make it through the day.

I have had nausea from very early on and as I am heading towards the end of my first trimester it still hasn't eased up. I also seem to find that sometimes I just have good days and bad days and there isn't a lot of rhyme or reason to it. It's all hormones so there's only so much you can do.

After weeks and weeks of bland food I just couldn't take it anymore. I needed to eat something with flavour and some colour in it. And at that point I found listening to my stomach really helpful. I do this by thinking of types of food or meals and my stomach either goes NO! or, yes maybe I could eat that. And then I just go for what I am able to stomach right now. Last night that was pasta with a bit of home made pesto and it was lovely. Listen to your body and don't be surprised if there is food you normally love that makes you feel nauseated right now.

I also think eating a little something before you get out of bed tends to help. Unfortunately I have my worst nausea at night so I keep snacks by the bed so I can wake up and relieve the symptoms a bit.

I hope you start to feel better soon. I am desperately hoping things will improve after trimester 1.
