After the other thread about nappies, just wondered if anyone has heard of such a thing as a nappy compactor or something like that.

We use so much that by time they all get put into wheelie bins it is super full by time the bins get emptied every 2 weeks.

I've heard of the tomme tippe ones etc that use cartridges but don't think they compact the nappies, that's meant to be more for a hygiene point of view.

Any ideas?

I have a tommy tipper sangenic nappy disposal system which I keep upstairs for night time changes. I wouldn't be without it tbh, save me emptying the bin every 5 mins and it doesn't smell at all. It wraps the nappies into a big sausage, doesn't really compact them as such but saves time when disposing of them.

Thanks for reply. At the moment we just used nappy sacks and have a bin upstairs and at end of day just empty into wheelie bin but not sure if the system you have would really stop the bin near enough overflowing!

it will give you somewhere hygienic to store them for a while hun. We only empty it every week, 10 days etc. it can fit a fair few nappies in it. Think of it as an extra bin :)

Only cost me a tenner as well but I think that was on offer. I'm still on the first cartridge too which is good

I second these it does actually wrap them up smaller than normal. I empty mine every month just cos I work now and we only put morning ones in there. No smells or anything. I'd rather dump it all in the bin in one go rather than every day.

im going to start using my washable nappies as soon as i get a lidded bin to store the dirty ones in til i get a washload, ive used one or two so far and i think theyre brill but i wouldnt know if they make such a thing as a compactor for nappies lol. if they dont get inventing as im sure there is a niche in the market there for you to exploit :)

I have some reusables too to use, I'm trying to sort out everything else first do it's a bit too much for me at the minute.

I have mio solos and they are really really nice. Much nicer than I thought they would be.

i just bought cheap pocket ones off ebay, theyre lovely patterns and some are so soft and fuzzy i wanna snuggle them if it wasnt weird cos theyre meant for babys bum. thye havent leaked when ive used one yet and even contained some fair sized poos. they have washed up nice and clean too and are adjustable sized so theyre meant to be birth to potty range. cost me 35 quid for 10 and 20 inserts. i cant wait to use them but i had to wait til i got paid to get the nappy bucket and now i just have to actually go and buy it lol.

you have all the time in the world to use them Tor so i dont blame you for not starting yet the way tilly has been im surprised you manage to even talk to us, your so strong. i would have caved long before you. Alyssa has been teething and pretty much cried al yesterday evening cos she was overtired as she didnt nap during the day due to disturbing cos of pain and i was ready to throw in the towel 4 weeks ago when she did it the first time but i found it easier to cope with this time. i really admire you and how your persevering with bf and everything :)

We have the tommee tippee one too. Couldn't recommend it enough!

Thanks bev, it really picks me up your message :)

That's a good price for the reusables, the patterns on them are quite cool aren't they? I've seen tiger ones and cow print ones.

I think when I've used all of my disposables I'll get to it, should give me a couple of weeks lol.

Thanks for the replies girls! I'll look into the tommee tippee thing then, have some gift cards for mothercare so I'll see what price they are in there.
Reusable nappies sound great to me int theory but I dunno, have no desire to try them. Don't want to wash jobby nappies :-D

i do at least 1 small wash a day anyway so whats an extra one lol. i have flushable liners for the pooey ones lol. i have a cow print one Tor, ans some with stars and some hear patterned ones
