The last couple of weeks I have found myself in a bit of a conundrum.
I think I knew very very early on I was expecting a boy so I was not shock at all to hear that confirmed. Problem is I knew the issue that would raise. Names.
I've spent many a year considering baby names, and have always been hitting a brick wall with boys.
It would seem I still am :oooo: My other half is also just as stumped.
His father would like us to give him a name with 'L', so he will be the fourth generation like that. I am not opposed to this at all. Not only do I think it would be nice to fulfil this wish but with my name being Louise and his being Lenno it would be a trio of L's. Problem is, we still cannot find a name we like.
I'm fairly picky, and stubborn - I am not a fan of traditional boys names.
I think I can predict the reaction but what do you guys think of Loki?
I absolutely adore this name, and not because of the whole Marvel nonsense, but simply because it phonetically speaks to me. Lex is also appealing.
The second catch is any name I find has to be possible for the Dutch to pronounce, as he is half Dutch.
I guess if worse comes to worse, we have our fail safe decision of Brandon.
Naming a boy is haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaard :wall2:

What about Lennon, Luca, Leo, Lenny Lawrence, Leigh, Lennox, Leon, Lewis, Lucas, Louis, lucian, luscious, Luke? I agree. It is hard. Good luck

An L name of Dutch origin is "Lambert". Not too out there, not common, Dutch, L. Quite nice :)

I think you should not worry too much about the L thing and just try looking at as many names as you can until you find something - if it happens to be an L name, great but if not it's no big deal. Hardly anyone will notice that you failed to secure your DS the L name he should've had. The ONS website has lists you can download of every name given to babies (there's a boy and girl list) http://www.ons.gov.uk/ons/rel/vsob1/baby-names--england-and-wales/index.html - England and Wales, so obvs doesn't tick the Dutch box. Me and DH are going to start by printing off these lists and highlighting the ones we like - we'll narrow down our longlists to shortlists and then go through each others and cross off any definite no-nos and match up any the same. I feel like a methodical approach is the only way we're going to be able to come up with anything as I've realised I hate all names and am reluctant to accept the responsibility of naming a child, lol. xxx

We're pretty sure our little boy will be called Logan :) another 'superhero' related name though with the popular x-men. I like Loki - but you realise it means 'God of Mischief' could be setting yourself up for trouble! Haha  xxx

Haha I find it funny that most people struggle with boy's names! Before I fell pregnant I thought I would struggle a lot with them too, as we had plenty of girl's names we loved, but only very few boy names... in the end that made it a lot easier as we had less to choose from and pretty quickly settled on the name Milo...however little Milo turned out to be a girl, so we named her Myla. If we ever have another boy he will be Jack or James. For us choosing two girl names was sooooo hard, but could have easily named two boys. ANYWAY...sorry that was totally off topic...
So L names... I think Logan is very lovely (but summer15 already suggested that name)! My oh's name is Lachlan, which I quite like as well.
I also like Louis, Lionel and Linus :)
Loki is not really not my cup of tea, but Lex is really cool!

I like Loki. A woman on one born called her child Thor. Lex was also on my list.

I'm calling this one Luke.

Landon
Lyle
Lincoln
Lander
Lawson

I really like unusual names, but really not sure about Loki, might cause him trouble with the naughty precident ha

Lachlan
Lorkin
Leander ( not sure on correct spelling)
Leon

Maybee jump to an L name as middle name as what happens when you have more kids? You don't want to be stuck with L's forever

Im a J and so is hubby and surname is J too so we avoided J

My Hubby had suggested Loki for us if we were having a boy! Not sure why he liked it, my cousin is a Lex so I really like both names xx

I love Loki - Another name that was on my list! LOL Who cares where it came from - I've got a Raistlin too. He's another fictional character with not so great behaviour - a little bit good, a little bit evil. :p

Besides, when I hear Loki I tend to think of it as an old Norse name - not a fictional Marvel character name. It reminds me of Vikings too! LOL

I absolutely love the name Loki :) I can imagine he would be a cheeky little monkey but full of smiles all the time!! :) Go with your heart xx
